The job proposed is located inside the Metallic Coatings and Surfaces (MCS) cluster belonging to Product research center. This cluster of about 70 people deals with process developments (technologies, models, knowledge) and with product developments (metallic coatings, surface treatment). This cluster also includes corrosion and surface analysis expertise. The position open is related to new products development.

Your role 

As part of MCS cluster, Metallic Coatings Process & Product team is looking for an engineer to work on new metallic coatings development and roll-out in ArcelorMittal plants that are all around the world. 

In this context, your missions will be :

  • define experimental plans to be performed at laboratory or directly on hot-dip galvanizing lines in order to test new concepts
  • define and organize products characterization plans, synthetize results and comment them to internal / external customers
  • accompany industrialization of concepts studied / developed at laboratory scale

You will have the opportunity to work with people having numerous competencies (hot-dip-galvanizing process, gas-metal reaction, new metallic coatings by hot dip galvanization or physical vapour deposition, corrosion, surface treatments, customers painting processes...).

Your profile

  • You hold a Master's degree or a PhD degree in the field of material science or in metallurgy
  • Any previous experience in steel industry, especially in metallurgy or surface fields would be an asset
  • You have knowledge in surface characterization by optical microscopy or scanning electron microscopy, as well as in microstructural analysis and in defectology
  • Knowledge in data science to extract and analyze data (Python…) would be an asset 
  • You have excellent communication skills to present your work and oustanding social skills to work in a team 
  • You have a keen interest in R&D and a strong technical curiosity 
  • You are proficient in English and French
  • You are able to travel worldwide (15 % of the time)
