About Us

At ANZ, we're shaping a world where people and communities thrive, driven by a common goal: to improve the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our customers. Our Institutional bank helps our largest customers move trade and capital around the region, providing our people with great opportunities to build their technical expertise and their careers.

About the Role

Supporting the Australian and PNG COO IA Leadership Team (COO IA LT), the Director, Data and Insights role is part of a small, high-performing team that will help shape and deliver, high-impact, locally focused non-tech initiatives aligned with the agreed COO IA FY priorities detailed within our three-year strategy. Changes will primarily fall within the remit and scope of COO IA teams. This is a hands-on role which works in close collaboration with the COO IA & PNG LT and ELT.

Banking is changing and we’re changing with it, giving our people great opportunities to try new things, learn and grow. Whatever your role at ANZ, you’ll be building your future, while helping to build ours.

Role Location: Melbourne – Blended role (3 days per week minimum in office, subject to increase in days if ANZ Institutional changes RTO policy)
Role Type: Permanent, Full-time - multiple opportunities

What will your day look like?

As a Director, Data and Insights, you will be accountable for:

  • End to end hands on delivery of COO IA FY non-tech identified priorities - from problem identification to project planning and embedding agreed changes – including all appropriate governance.

  • Juggling multiple activities concurrently with a 'can do' attitude to benefit the business, stakeholders, and customers.

  • Helping COO IA LT, ELT, and People Leaders drive a strong service culture by taking accountability for complex customer/business challenges and coordinating timely responses and issue resolutions.

  • Contributing to the development and management of efficient and best practice reporting/analytics to generate customer and banker insights, drive team performance, produce stakeholder reporting, and aid decision-making regarding customer engagement strategies.

  • Providing coaching, support, training, and guidance to the members of the COO IA ELT/People Leader team to drive personal and professional growth and career development.

  • Supporting the development of a high-performing team with a strong customer service ethic.

  • Plan and implement initiatives to improve work life quality through training, performance planning, and guidance.

  • Provide leadership and collaborate with ANZ Capability Centres, senior leaders in product and coverage, and occasionally with ILT executives.

  • Ensure COO IA messaging and branding align with the Global One Team philosophy, maintain and improve COO IA engagement portals

  • Build and review outcome focused delivery and endorsement packs using multiple mediums.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Significant stakeholder management experience with an ability to influence senior business leaders and engage wide audiences.

  • Proven leadership capabilities in delivering outcomes without a team of direct reports.

  • Experience in successfully delivering (hands on) change initiatives that require a change in customer / frontline banker behaviour or significant cultural change within teams.

  • T-shaped capabilities – ability to go deep into the operational detail when required and also think more broadly to ensure end-to-end customer experience is taken into consideration.

  • Ability to quickly adapt and grasp new knowledge, skills and content

  • Strategic mindset, highly commercial with a proven ability to balance risk/reward priorities

  • Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills to enable identification of multiple issues involved with complex business issues and to develop acceptable solutions for customers and the business

  • Proven hands on experience with Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel

  • High quality verbal, written communication and presentation skills (ability to tell a complex story in simple terms)

You’re not expected to have 100% of these skills. At ANZ a growth mindset is at the heart of our culture, so if you have most of these things in your toolbox, we’d love to hear from you.

So why join us?
