Job Title: Actuarial Data Scientist

Location: Hybrid

Starting Salary: £30,000 - £45,000

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

  • Actuarial Modelling: Develop and maintain actuarial models using Prophet to support pricing, valuation, and risk analysis.
  • Predictive Analytics: Apply advanced data science techniques, including predictive modelling and machine learning (ML), to enhance forecasting accuracy and risk assessment.
  • Programming and Automation: Leverage Python to streamline actuarial processes, automate repetitive tasks, and implement custom modelling solutions.
  • Data Analysis and Visualisation: Analyse large datasets to identify trends and insights, presenting findings through clear visualisations and reports.
  • Model Validation and Calibration: Validate actuarial models and predictive models, ensuring accuracy, robustness, and alignment with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration Across Teams: Work closely with data science, finance, and actuarial teams to develop integrated solutions that address business challenges.
  • Documentation and Communication: Maintain comprehensive documentation of modelling processes and methodologies. Communicate technical results to stakeholders in a clear, actionable manner.

Requirements

Experience:

  • 2-3 years of experience in actuarial analysis or a related field with a strong focus on predictive analytics and data science.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Prophet for actuarial modelling.
  • Strong knowledge of Python for data manipulation, modelling, and machine learning implementation.
  • Experience in data science techniques and ML algorithms for predictive modelling.
  • Familiarity with large datasets and data processing pipelines.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a focus on accuracy and detail.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborative mindset to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

Education:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Progress towards actuarial qualifications is advantageous.
