Computer Science | Data Science internship: version-controlled environment for tools

Introduction

The Optical Column (OC) is the heart of the extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography systems. These systems push Moore's law and enable tomorrow's technology. The OC comprises every functionality related to the optical path, from collecting the EUV light from the source to projecting the photomask image onto the wafer. Within the OC department, the EUV Projection Group is responsible for the transfer and de-magnification of the reticle image onto the wafer in the EUV scanners by means of advanced optical manipulations and corrections. We are responsible for the design, integration, qualification and troubleshooting of the optical performance in the projection modules in the EUV scanners. In the Optical Performance teams, functional engineers are critically dependent on advanced models and analysis tools. We envision several IT improvements in the infrastructure that will support better maintenance and development of models and tools.

Your Assignment

The ultimate goal of the project is to create a development environment that enables efficient tool development and saves valuable time for the functional design engineers. The assignment consists of multiple activities.

Some of your tasks may involve:

• Migration of legacy code to a new repository: This requires meticulous effort and collaboration with the engineers in order to not break the current infrastructure, e.g., by careful handling of all dependencies;

• Connection of the repositories to an automation test server (Jenkins) to build additional unit tests;. In the migration and setting up of new repositories, an essential step is to follow the product security guidelines of ASML;

This internship offers the opportunity to learn about the broad horizon of functional models in the Optical Projection group and the important role that tools play in the development of advanced lithography machines. The exact breakdown with more details and planning of the internship project is subject to discussion with the candidate.
 

Your Profile

To be a fit for this assignment, you:

• Are busy with your bachelor's or master's in Computer Science or Data Science;

• Are proactive and have a hands-on mentality;

• Are skilled in MATLAB or Python;

• Are able to run automated tests (Jenkins);

• Have an affinity with Distributed Version Control and encryption;

• Have good communication skills in English (verbal and written).

 
This is a Bachelor or a Master apprentice internship for 5 to 9 months, minimum 4 days per week (at least 3 days onsite). The start date of this internship is as soon as possible.
 

Other requirements you need to meet:

• You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship;

• You are located in the Netherlands to perform your internship. In case you are currently living/studying outside of the Netherlands, your CV/motivation letter includes the willingness to relocate;

• If you are a non-EU citizen, studying in the Netherlands, your university is willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement).

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
