Position SummaryThe Assistant Director, Data and Evaluation, "In St. Louis, For St. Louis” Initiative is responsible for overseeing the collection, analysis, and reporting of data to evaluate the effectiveness and demonstrate the impact of WashU’s “In St. Louis, For St. Louis” initiative. This role involves developing and managing data systems, conducting comprehensive evaluations, and providing insights to support data-driven decision-making. The Assistant Director, Data and Evaluation, "In St. Louis, For St. Louis” Initiative will work closely with various departments to ensure data is accurately captured, analyzed, and utilized to inform strategic planning and improve organizational outcomes for the team.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning

  • Guide data collection and evaluation strategies to demonstrate the university's role and impact in the region and to support the "In St. Louis, For St. Louis" Initiative performance.
  • Oversee the effective implementation of strategies for the identification, retrieval, and manipulation of data from multiple, disparate systems and data sources to perform analysis, assessment, and reporting necessary to make decisions to support strategic initiatives, program development, external reporting, and ongoing projects and decision making.
  • Collaborate with the team to create and manage key performance indicators (KPI's) and objectives and key results (OKPRs) for the "In St. Louis, For St. Louis" Initiative
     

Research, Reporting and Data Analysis

  • Lead evaluation and research ensuring high quality standards, guiding project management, evaluation methodology, and best practices for dissemination and oversee project plans, products, and final reviews.
  • Implement key components of evaluation/research projects, including research design, tool development, stakeholder engagement, and dissemination of findings across various audiences.
  • Manage data and research projects, overseeing database integrity, CRM development, and effective communication of findings through visualizations, reports and presentations.
     

Basic Data Visualization

  • Create and manage basic maps to demonstrate the university's role and impact in St. Louis and support the initiative.
  • Develop static and interactive maps that display key data points and geographic trends.
  • Design straightforward visual representations that assist with strategic decision-making and enhance stakeholder understanding.
  • Generate basic heat maps to highlight areas of activity or need within the community, supporting university commitments to regional engagement.
  • Support the preparation of maps and visual tools for presentations, reports and planning documents.
     

Team Leadership and Development

  • Provide training and support to the "In St. Louis, For St. Louis" Initiative team on data collection tools, evaluation methods, and data literacy.
  • Presents accurate, complete and concise recommendations to leadership including the Board of Trustees based on research and analysis
  • outcomes.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making with the "In St. Louis, For St. Louis" Initiative team.

Salary Range$53,100.00 - $90,600.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
