Hannover Life Reassurance Company of America (Hannover Re) is currently seeking talented candidates for a full-time Sr Actuary position, within the CSS – Enterprise Risk Management department. The Senior Actuary role within ERM is a non-rotational position outside of the Actuarial Development Program (“ADP”). The role supports the overall risk management and reporting efforts of ERM with particular emphasis on semi-annual board reporting, quarterly regulatory reporting to the BMA, Asset Liability Management, and new business risk reviews. The role is highly collaborative within CSS and across business units. The Sr Actuary must have a strong working knowledge of capital and reporting regimes, reinsurance solutions and underlying products, and Hannover Re’s data infrastructure. The Sr Actuary will also provide mentoring or managerial oversight to department ADP members or interns.


Essential Functions:

(60%) Technical Support and Analysis 

  • Manages the risk analysis and reporting processes around the quarterly production of risk reporting and expanded semi-annual risk reporting for the board of directors to 1) demonstrate compliance with Hannover Re’s risk appetite and strategy, and 2) support regulatory ORSA requirements, and 3) provide appropriate assurance to other internal and external stakeholders. Reporting package includes asset liability modelling (ALM), Bermuda solvency capital requirements, among others. 
  • Build and maintain tools for monitoring underwriting guideline compliance and capital impact assessments 
  • Researches and implements process improvements for continued efficiency 


(25%) Business Management and Collaboration 

  • Contributes to analysis, modelling and risk assessments of key risks, risk reporting, operational processes, documentation, and internal control framework. Facilitates effective internal control design and implementation to ensure effective risk monitoring and reporting. 
  • Supports the design and production of risk management reporting for regulators and Hannover Re stakeholders. 


(15%) Ad-hoc Projects / Other 

  • Coordinates implementation of strategic and risk infrastructure related projects 
  • Provides mentoring or managerial oversight to department ADP members or interns

Essential knowledge skills and abilities: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics or similar 
  • Associate (ASA considered with 5+ years experience) or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries
  • 4+ years of experience in an actuarial role 
  • Computer software: Intermediate/Advanced Microsoft software 
  • Insurance product knowledge: Term, ULSG, FIA/FA, VA, LTC, Health 
  • Business knowledge: (Re)insurance basics, Solvency II, IFRS17, Stat/GAAP, Predictive Modelling, AG48, CARVM/AG33 
  • Business skills: Strong verbal communication, Excellent writing skills, Ability to communicate complex initiatives to all stakeholders, Ability to execute on multiple priorities simultaneously 


Desired knowledge skills and abilities:

  • Programming knowledge: R, VBA, Python, SQL, etc. 
  • Proficient with Hannover Re data infrastructure (LARS, General Ledger) 


Travel:

  • 10% Light travel may be requested to Orlando

 

Total Compensation Range (Inclusive of Base + Bonus):

  • $111,500 - $198,100
