Job Description

The Data Strategy & Innovation Specialist is responsible for supporting our Human Health (HH) organization in developing strategies and approaches to sourcing & creating commercial data assets to inform important business decisions and actions. Under the direction of the Data Strategy & Innovation Leader, the Specialist will assist in implementing the HH data asset strategy & innovation agenda across the following areas within the Pharma group: Chronic Care, Hospital Specialty, and PAH.

Key Responsibilities include and may not be limited to:

  • Commercial Data Landscape: Supports the maintenance of the HH commercial data landscape, including 1st, 2nd, and 3rd party data assets related to HCP, consumer, payer, patient, account, etc. Maintains a working knowledge of the use cases and value associated with each data asset.

  • External Environment Scanning: Scans the external environment for new valuable data assets.

  • Data Needs Assessment: Supports data needs assessments in assigned areas using input from key analytics and business stakeholders, identifies gaps in current data strategy versus ideal state, and prioritizes identified gaps.

  • Workflow Optimization: Assists in improving existing and developing new data strategy workflows by identifying, streamlining, and automating away inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Gap Filling: For assigned areas, supports plans to fill prioritized gaps, including the acquisition of new assets from external sources, identifying partners to create needed assets, or enacting internal initiatives such as gathering new 1st party assets.

  • Data Ingestion and Review: Partners with internal teams to ingest and review external data sources for use by the analytic teams.

  • Data Diagnostics: Conducts assigned data innovation diagnostics tasks, including data quality assessments, fit-for-purpose analyses, and proof-of-concept use case tests.

  • Implementation and Value Realization: Works closely with data management teams to ensure appropriate implementation and value realization.

  • Cross-functional Team Participation: Bolsters an environment of high-performance partnership by actively participating in strong cross-functional teams.

  • Industry and Market Knowledge: Develops industry knowledge and brand/market domain expertise.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science (or equivalent) in Data Science, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, IT, MBA, or an equivalent scientific/commercial discipline.

  • Minimum 2 years of professional work experience in data analytics, data strategy, strategy & operations or related function.

  • Knowledge in analyzing healthcare administrative data, electronic health records, and/or disease/patient registries for relevant quantitative and qualitative research.

  • Proficient in SQL.

  • Ability to travel ~10% for workshops, team meetings, etc.

  • Business Acumen: Strong business acumen with a basic understanding of how data (HCP, consumer, payer, patient, account, engagement, etc.) can be leveraged to inform critical commercial decisions and actions.

  • Willingness to Learn: Willingness to learn how to analyze and assess the commercial value of data assets.

  • Stakeholder Understanding: Strong business acumen necessary to appreciate the needs of business stakeholders (marketing, sales, account management, operations, etc.).

  • Partnership Skills: Ability to effectively partner with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Academic Curiosity: Academic curiosity and ability to identify innovative approaches to addressing data needs.

  • Communication Skills: Effective presentation, analytics, and communication skills, both written and oral, to synthesize key issues and convey/persuade constituencies towards specific actions and initiatives.

  • Adaptability: Ability to operate in a dynamic, transforming environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS (or equivalent) in Data Science, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, IT, MBA, or an equivalent scientific/commercial discipline.

  • Familiarity with agile project management tools such as Jira.

  • Professional work experience in the biopharmaceutical industry in data analytics, data strategy, strategy & operations or related function.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office-based positions in the U.S. will be working a Hybrid work consisting of three total days on-site per week, Monday - Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence.This Hybrid work model does not apply to, and daily in-person attendance is required for, field-based positions; facility-based, manufacturing-based, or research-based positions where the work to be performed is located at a Company site; positions covered by a collective-bargaining agreement (unless the agreement provides for hybrid work); or any other position for which the Company has determined the job requirements cannot be reasonably met working remotely. The Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job in certain states and cities within the United States. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.

Expected US salary range:

$83,100.00 - $130,900.00
