Our Advanced Analytical and Data Sciences organization is growing to support the entire Lilly enterprise, from Discovery to Development to Manufacturing and Commercialization of our medicines. To solve the complex problems of a global business and the ever-evolving data and analytics landscape, the organization generally requires advanced degrees in statistics, mathematics, econometrics, operations research and computer science. We are playing a leading role in transforming the way the company discovers and develops new treatments, identifies personalized treatment regimens, drives efficiency in our operations and optimizes our commercialization of new products. We are doing this with an emphasis in the areas of machine learning and artificial intelligence, natural language processing and other approaches to unstructured data, advanced mathematical and predictive modeling, visual analytics and more. Responsibilities:
You will be part of a growing and dynamic team of advanced analytics professionals whose main goal is to help our marketing, finance, and business leadership partners achieve their business goals through advanced data analytics. Key responsibilities include:
Partner with the US Finance Analytics team to identify, scope, and execute advanced analytics efforts that answer business questions, solve business needs, and add value. Examples include forecasting sales, estimating marketing channel effectiveness and customer targeting and segmentation. Collaborate with other analytics team members to review and provide feedback on the analytics work being done and be willing to seek feedback from other team members about your own work. Stay current with respect to statistical/mathematical/informatics modeling methodology, to maintain proficiency in applying new and varied methods, and to be competent in justifying methods selected.
Basic Qualifications:
- Ph.D./Master's/Bachelor’s in Statistics, Technology, Data Science, or closely related field
- 2+ years for Ph.D. otherwise 5+ years of relevant work experience
Required Skills:
- A high degree of programming proficiency in Python with good hands-on knowledge of various concepts of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
- Proficient in building models, visualizations, and apps with Python
- Good understanding of predictive modeling, large language models, and experience with algorithms such as XGBoost, RNN, Transformers, etc.
- Deep and broad knowledge of statistical modeling and data mining methods and tools
- Proficiency in SQL to process and integrate data from multiple different sources
- Interpersonal communication skills for effective consultation
Preferred Skills:
- Good knowledge of generative AI libraries like Langchain, CrewAI, Autogen, cloud platforms, and application deployment
- Experience with causal inference models (matched controls, Mahalanobis distance, calipers, propensity score methods, covariate balancing)
- Experience with designing statistical experiments (DoE)
Additional Information:
- Proficient in applying machine learning algorithms and techniques to solve complex business problems
- Strong understanding of data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation techniques
- Experience with deploying machine learning models into production environments
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Passion for continuous learning and staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in machine learning and artificial intelligence
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
