Introduction to role
Our Enterprise Architecture Team is responsible for enterprise strategy and standards in Data and Data Search. We collaborate closely with data delivery teams across Business Technology Group (BTG) IT teams and data governance teams SET Area Data Offices (SEDO), supporting the build of AstraZeneca data products including Data Mesh and analytical solutions. Our global Enterprise Architecture (GEA) Practice specializes in Enterprise Architecture, Data Architecture, Data Search, Data Modelling, and Data Analysis. We design key aspects of the data world for AstraZeneca across our global customer businesses, offering critical services focused on the search, ingestion, extraction, processing, transformation, transport, storage, and representation of knowledge. We use leading processes and methods to achieve enduring outcomes for projects and business-as-usual working, leading on enterprise-level, cross-organizational information architecture. The GEA practice is creating an exciting new role of Data Search Enterprise Architect to join our team and help us design and implement scalable and efficient search solutions for our data products. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining search architectures, algorithms, and frameworks that enable fast and accurate retrieval of data from various sources and formats. You will also collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and product managers to understand the business requirements and deliver high-quality search solutions.
Accountabilities
Design and develop search architectures, algorithms, and frameworks for data products
Optimize search performance, relevance, and accuracy
Implement and test search solutions using various technologies and tools
Monitor and troubleshoot search issues and anomalies
Research and evaluate new search technologies and trends
Document and communicate search best practices and standards
Integrate new systems and functions like security, performance, scalability, reliability, and data recovery
Research new opportunities and create methods to acquire search data
Gain approval from various stakeholders across AstraZeneca
Develop measures that ensure data accuracy, integrity, and accessibility for search
Continually monitor, refine, and report data management system performance for search
Drive across teams, time zones, and articulate data search architecture, strategy, and visions
Essential Skills/Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent number of years of experience in a Computer Science or Data Management related field.
Experience in framing and delivering enterprise search data architecture/master and reference data management architectural thinking, and its practical application.
Experience in the use of conceptual and logical data search modelling technologies.
Experience in defining and working with Enterprise and data search regulatory governances.
The role holder will possess a blend of data search architecture/data design, analysis, and search engineering skills.
Experience in known industry IT architectural patterns and IT architecture ways of working/methodologies.
Understands data search Platforms concepts and cloud-based containerization strategies for hybrid cloud environments.
Understanding the appropriate data search structure and technology based on business use case and completely familiar with data lifecycles.
Data search visualization, data search migration, and data search modelling.
Relational database management systems
DBMS software, including SQL Server
Database and cloud computing design, architectures, and data lakes.
Hadoop technologies like Pig, Hive, and MapReduce.
Agile methodologies and enterprise resource planning implementation.
Machine learning, predictive modelling, and natural language processing.
Data mining and modelling tools.
Desirable Skills/Experience
Experience in a data search architect role with practical examples of designing and providing data engineering/architectural blueprints that have been implemented.
Experience in Agile data definition scrums.
Experience in the use of tooling, e.g. metadata cataloguing tools, data modelling tools, EA tools.
Understanding of or familiarity with Data Mesh approaches (as distinct from Data Fabric or Data Platform).
Proficient in one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, or C#
Experience with search platforms and frameworks such as Sinequa Elasticsearch, Solr, Lucene, or Vespa
Programming languages including Java, Python, C/C++, as well as unified modelling language.
Application server software as well as backup and archival software.
Systems development lifecycle and project management.
Data management and reporting technologies, predictive analytics, data visualization, and unstructured data.
Applied mathematics and statistics.
