The Research and Technology Center North America (RTC-NA) is dedicated to providing technologies and system solutions for various Bosch business fields, primarily in the field of artificial intelligence (for example, foundation models, human-assisted AI, natural language processing, robotics, 3D perception, and AI platform), energy technologies, internet technologies, circuit design, semiconductors and wireless, as well as advanced MEMS design.
As a part of the global research, our AI research in Silicon Valley focuses on Foundation Models, Big Data Visual Analytics, Explainable AI (XAI), Natural Language Processing, 3D Perception & Mixed Reality, Cloud Robotics, Data Science, AI Platform, Time-series Analysis. We develop scalable, intelligent, and trustworthy AIoT solutions to enable inspiring UX for Bosch products and services in application areas such as automated driving, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), robotics, smart manufacturing, enterprise AI, health care, smart home and building solutions.
Originating from the AI research in Silicon Valley, our Foundation Model Powered AI Enablers group plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of industrial AI experiences for Bosch products and services. By fusing cutting-edge machine learning, data analysis, and interactive visualization technologies, we research and develop scalable and transparent AI & big data analytic solutions (e.g., audio, images, sensor logs) for a range of domains, including Industry 4.0 (I4.0), IoT, autonomous driving, and connected vehicles. Our award-winning team (IEEE VIS best paper & best paper runner-ups) actively collaborates with leading academic and industry groups to advance research ideas and disseminate findings in top AI conferences and journals, such as NeurIPS, CVPR, IEEE VIS, ACL, EMNLP, SIGKDD, ICASSP, ICCV, ECCV, ICRA, RSS, IROS, ICML, AAAI, ICLR, and ISWC.
Job Description
- Conduct research and engineering in AI and machine learning, with a particular focus on Foundation Models and Data-centric AI. This includes specialized areas like Foundation Model AI tooling, spatiotemporal machine learning, time series learning, and general representation learning. Applications span Bosch's AIoT (AI+IoT) business domains such as ADAS, connected vehicles, Industry 4.0, IoT, and car multimedia.
- Implement research results to solve real-world challenges, ensuring high-quality system integration within Bosch's existing platforms.
- Document and disseminate research findings through high-caliber publications and/or patent submissions.
Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. students in Computer Science or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of research experience, or an equivalent graduate research background, primarily in AI technologies including Foundation Models and Data-centric AI.
- Publications in premier machine learning, deep learning, and computer vision journals and conferences.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages commonly used in machine learning (e.g., Python).
Desired:
- Knowledge in machine learning and deep learning, notably in Foundation Model AI tooling, ADAS, spatiotemporal machine learning, deep graph learning, general representation learning, model distillation, and related areas.
- Familiar with major machine learning platforms like PyTorch.
- Experience in vision and multimodality foundation models (e.g., SAM, CLIP, LLaVA) and AI-based ADAS solutions is a plus.
- Strong background in math and statistics is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork capabilities.

The U.S. base salary range for this intern position is $43.00-$66.00 hourly. Within the range, individual pay is determined based on several factors, including, but not limited to, type of degree, work experience and job knowledge, complexity of the role, type of position, job location, etc. Your Hiring Manager can share more details about the specific salary range for this position during the interview process.
