Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Computer Science Professional to provide support for our NAVAIR customer in Lexington Park/Patuxent River, MD.

You will work on a variety of topics within the Advanced Analytics and Innovation (AA&I) Branch. The primary topics involve the development of highly sophisticated dashboards, visualizations and websites, as well as using advanced analytics and machine learning to conduct data analysis. This branch supports various Program Management Air (PMA) offices, Air Systems Group, Command, Fleet Readiness Centers, and other DOD services.. These products will leverage business intelligence (BI) tools such as Tableau, Microsoft Power BI to visualize the PMAs reliability, maintenance, and supply data in an actionable format. These products will also leverage an array of web development and data science tools such as CDSW (Cloudera Data Science Workbench), GitLab, JIRA, AWS (Amazon Web Services) & NUCLEUS, and JavaScript. This is a full-time position. Telework will be the norm with the occasional need to be in the office. Be part of an exciting team making a difference for the US Naval Air Forces.

 

What you will do…

Your primary duties will involve developing full stack solutions to assist in analyzing scientific and business operations problems across the Naval Aviation Enterprise. Topics include:

  • Research, design, and develop user-centric interactive reports, dashboards, and visualization solutions that provide business insights to PMA or AA&I branch decision makers using BI tools (Tableau, Power BI etc..) as well as front end graphical frameworks based in React
  • You are expected to be familiar with Python, JavaScript, SQL, and several associated packages and frameworks such as React, Flask, and SQL Alchemy.
  • Design, build, integrate, and manage the architecture or framework used in various data science projects to maintain flow of data between servers and applications.
  • Gather, clean, preprocess, and analyze relevant data from various sources to support decision-making. Apply statistical analysis and data mining techniques to extract insights and validate model assumptions. Write code and develop scripts to automate data transmission between different data sources or environments.
  • Utilize a fundamental understanding of general coding techniques to produce clean maintainable code.
  • This work does not require the application of professional knowledge of Air Systems Group.

Qualifications

What you will need:

 

  • 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA
  • Minimum requirements are a BS degree in data science/ Computer Science/ Mathematics/Statistics/ (desired), Engineering/Operations Research Analyst (acceptable) and 5+ years of related academic or professional experience. An advanced degree (MS) is preferred; with an advanced degree you will be given preference.
  • Proficiency in Python, JavaScript
  • Proficiency in JIRA and GitLab with a minimum of 3+ years of related academic or professional experience.
  • Understanding of general CI/CD techniques and mechanisms for establishing workflows associated with the CI/CD process.

  • Familiarity with aviation data.
  • Experience with JavaScript and front end development
  • Advanced Tableau data visualization experience
  • Scrum master or lead certified
  • Scrum master or lead experience
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; including presentation skills capable of defending a technical position and/or recommendation.
  • Self-directed team player with proven ability to deliver tasks timely and efficiently, and a demonstrated ability to interact professionally with all levels of management
  • High level problem solving and interpersonal skills
  • Flexible and able to work in a dynamic environment
  • Experience in the aerospace, and/or defense industries

Security Clearance:

This position requires the candidate to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. In order to obtain a clearance, you need to be a U.S. Citizen and show proof of citizenship.

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
