Data Analytics Manager

The Data Analytics Manager will be responsible for advancing and leading financial reporting and analytics for Bloomberg Industry Group. This individual will be required to manage projects and direct others in the organization to adopt data-driven processes and implement data in their decision-making. This role supports the enterprise by analyzing a variety of data sources programmatically, producing meaningful financial and sales reports that will provide an analytical perspective that will help steer the strategic direction of the company. The role is responsible for data gathering, report development, QA, and analysis of a broad set of regularly scheduled reports as well as various ad hoc reports and analyses. The Data Analytics Manager partners with business leaders throughout the organization in setting the direction of analytical and technical teams. The role will be responsible for training, guiding, coaching, and helping to implement the work of analysts and technical colleagues in specific business units and in central corporate groups. The Data Analytics Manager will also be required to lead and contribute to strategic projects.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Manages financial data projects by leading analysts and technical colleagues through project inception to completion.
• Trains, guides, and coaches analysts and technical roles in business units and central corporate teams in financial reporting and analytics.
• Accountable for the development, maintenance, and innovation of large, enterprise-wide datasets, data tools and platforms, and the direction of colleagues to implement and use these datasets and tools.
• Partners with key teams such as ECDS, PR&D, and IT to assist with data, reporting, and analytics initiatives that each of those groups lead.
• Interprets data, analyzes results using statistical techniques, and provides ongoing reports.
• Develops and implements data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality.
• Acquires data from primary or secondary data sources and maintains databases/data systems.
• Identifies, analyzes, and interprets trends or patterns in complex data sets, with focus on usage.
• Filters and “cleans” data, and reviews computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems.
• Works with confidential operational data to assess financial performance and contributes significantly to management business decisions.
• Builds complex reports and serves as an advisor to team members.
• Attends meetings and may act as a representative for the Data Analytics team.
• Manages projects with minimal supervision.
• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Proven working experience as a data analyst or senior data analyst.
• Technical knowledge regarding data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
• Knowledge of and experience with databases (SQL, etc.), and programming (XML, VBA, etc.).
• Strong excel macro writing and PowerPivot skills.
• Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing large datasets (Excel, etc.).
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong comfort level gathering requirements, conducting interviews and facilitating brainstorming or collaboration sessions with customer representatives.
• Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings.
• Skilled in managing multiple requests and maintaining a high-level of responsiveness.
• Experience being self-directed in managing projects.
• Ability to advise team members and lead matrixed groups.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree with courses in business, mathematics, statistics or appropriate combination of education and experience required.
• A minimum of 4+ years of experience creating, reporting from, and analyzing large datasets from multiple disparate sources, producing analytic reports for high-level audiences, and presentation of information.  Experience building complex reports and managing projects.
