Data Science Intern

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Data Science Intern to join our Digital & Innovation (D&I) team. The intern will support various data science projects, working closely with data scientists, data engineers, and business stakeholders to develop and maintain complex data models and digital solutions. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the development and maintenance of data models embedded into Westinghouse digital solutions for asset management, work management, and business process optimization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to apply machine learning, statistical analysis, and optimization techniques to digital solutions that increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve decision-making.
• Support the entire data science project cycle, including ideation, requirements gathering, prototyping, development, deployment, and maintenance.
• Communicate and explain technical work to project mentors and direct management.
• Contribute to advanced analytics solutions across broad application areas.
• Utilize cloud-based data science infrastructure to support project needs.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of machine learning, statistical analysis, and data modeling techniques.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and cloud computing platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Knowledge of natural language processing (NLP) and other advanced analytics techniques.
• Previous internship or project experience in data science or related fields.
