This role is in the DroneShield Sydney headquarters in Pyrmont, Sydney. There are approximately 200 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 300 staff by end of 2026. Overseas on the ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Denmark, Germany and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally.


About the role

DroneShield is seeking a System Integration and Test Engineer with relevant experience to join the team in Sydney, NSW. The position will report to VP of Embedded Systems.

The primary focus of the role is to develop and maintain DroneShield’s RF Capability. Working closely with ML/AI, Data Science, RF and infrastructure teams to innovate and enhance DroneShield’s world leading Anti-Drone technology. It represents an exceptional opportunity for a result-driven individual in a new niche but exploding market.


Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations 

As the System Integration and Test Engineer your main focus will be to develop the capability to acquire data relating to RF Technology. This will involve:

  • Conducting Test Campaigns – For example, evaluate the communication range of a drone in all its configurations.
  • Automating Testing
  • Data Management
  • Efficient communication of test results
  • Documentation of testing process
  • Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on user and business requirements.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills 

  • BS degree in Mechatronics, Electronic Engineer or similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in related roles. Roles could include:
    • Test Engineer
    • Integration Engineer
    • Electronics Engineering
    • Quality Engineer
  • Knowledge of the following would be essential:
    • Comfortable on the command line in a Linux first environment
    • Software development experience in Python
    • Development tools including Git, Jira
  • Knowledge of the following would also be desirable:
    • RF, spectral analysis,RF Test Equipments (Spectrum Analyzer, Signal generator, etc...)
    • System Integration of various Hardware/Software components into an easy-to-use system.
