In a nutshell

Payments has a vital role to play in the growth of the retail business. As part of this the Commercial Management Team will be accountable for consolidating and understanding the overall performance and effectiveness of Payments activity and planned initiatives. The Insights and Analytics Manager is a key role in how we build and syndicate this understanding within the organisation. 
 

What you need to do

  • Own the analytics approach and execution for understanding the e2e profitability of Payments activity for the General Merchandising business
  • Work with the Head of Customer Value and the Director of Payments to create compelling and succinct ways to report performance across the organisation
  • Take the lead in presenting insights / recommendations at various governance forums and working groups across the organisation. Creating / owning presentation content as required.
  • Consolidate trading inputs and planned actions from the Payments Proposition Teams to provide total view of payments effectiveness / optimisation
  • Maintain intra-month tracking of performance vs budget and devise accurate methods to forecast future performance based on changes to customer profiles or propositions use. 
  • Provide insights on customer segmentation and how / where payments propositions are meeting needs of retail customers
  • Combine Payments data with broader Retail data to understand the cost / value of payments propositions for the organisation
  • Support Proposition Heads in understanding balance between the adoption of different payment types and any opportunities to co-ordinate / optimise between propositions
  • Ensure work is presented / conveyed in a compelling and digestible manner for stakeholders 
  • Collaborate with various finance teams across the organisation to ensure alignment on commercial analysis and to isolate risks / opportunities to budget
  • Collaborate with analytics teams across the organisation to share / understand best practice and leverage broader work to benefit effectiveness of Payments business
  • Invest time to evolve Payments’ approach to analysis and insights – identify opportunities to upskill and deliver new tools and approaches – eg Python, AI, Machine learning etc

  • You’ll obsess about how to make interest bearing propositions work for customers and the business, seeking various analytical routes to find growth and improved commercial performance
  • You love all things data and are analytical in your approach. You are data driven with a background in delivering analytics and insights 
  • You enjoy working at pace and getting things done with a can-do / will-do attitude
  • You have a passion to learn new approaches, tools and techniques and are keen to progress in your career
  • You’ll possess technical skills and experience with tools such as SQL and SAS to manipulate and analyse large and varied data sources
  • You’ll be confident in taking analysis briefs, iterating them with the stakeholder and providing meaningful and usable outputs
  • You possess excellent numerical and analytical skills with an eye for detail
  • You have a high level of competence in problem solving and planning: The ability to take a pragmatic approach to planning and problem resolution is essential
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communications skills
