Job Title: AVP-Claims Data Lead
Overview: We are seeking an experienced Claims Data Lead to drive our end-to-end claims transformation initiative. This role will leverage real-time data to enhance automation and operational efficiency, reimagining claims processes through advanced data-driven solutions and IoT insights. The individual will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, claims operations, IoT, product, and data science, to create and implement data solutions that support our transformation goals.
This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office location (Hartford, CT; Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; Columbus, OH) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Strategy & Transformation:
- Develop and execute a data strategy for claims transformation, aligning with business goals and the reimagined claims lifecycle.
- Ensure IoT data integration and AI readiness to drive automation and augment decision-making processes.
Data Architecture & Integration:
- Architect scalable, sustainable data models and implement a cohesive data domain and product strategy.
- Simplify the Claims data ecosystem and democratize data for consumption, ensuring alignment with generative AI requirements.
- Collaborate with IT and architecture teams for seamless integration and data flow across platforms.
Generative AI Enablement:
- Lead initiatives to integrate generative AI solutions into claims processes, including documentation, communication, and assessment.
- Ensure data readiness by building high-quality, structured, and compliant datasets tailored for AI-driven applications.
Advanced Analytics & Insights:
- Partner with data science teams to apply predictive modeling, machine learning, and AI to enhance claims processes.
- Leverage insights from IoT and AI-driven data to detect fraud, assess damage, and optimize the claims workflow.
BI Strategy & Insights:
- Develop and implement a BI strategy to enable real-time reporting, self-service analytics, and actionable insights for claims teams.
- Design intuitive dashboards and data visualizations that support decision-making and operational improvements.
Data Quality, Governance, & AI Readiness:
- Establish governance standards and quality measures for IoT, claims, and AI-ready data, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and data integrity.
- Develop best practices for preparing data optimized for AI models, ensuring quality and scalability.
Self-Service & Automation Enablement:
- Design and deploy self-service data tools, dashboards, and reporting solutions that empower claims teams to access real-time IoT and AI insights.
IoT Data Integration & Automation:
- Design and implement data pipelines to collect, process, and integrate data from IoT devices into claims processes.
- Leverage IoT data to automate claims triggers, expedite assessments, and support real-time decision-making.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Act as a bridge between technical and business stakeholders, translating IoT, AI, and data insights into actionable claims solutions.
- Effectively communicate the impact of data-driven initiatives to non-technical stakeholders.
Trend Monitoring & Innovation:
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in IoT, data management, and AI.
- Assess new tools and techniques for their applicability to our claims transformation goals.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and manage a team of over 50 professionals within the Claims Data organization.
- Oversee a multi-year data transformation to modernize the Claims data ecosystem in the Cloud.
AI-Driven Solutions Development:
- Ensure data readiness for building co-pilots for complex claims and chatbots.
- Develop and maintain datasets that support the creation of AI-driven tools to enhance claims processing and customer interactions.
Partnership with Claims Leadership:
- Build strong partnerships with claims leadership to understand and address key pain points.
- Enable data-driven solutions that directly tackle challenges faced by the claims teams, enhancing overall efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of experience in data management, analytics, or related roles, with significant experience in claims or insurance preferred.
- 10+ years of technical leadership.
- Mastery in Data Engineering and Architecture, including data warehouse, integration, data lake, data domains, data products, BI, and cloud technology capabilities.
- Strong expertise in IoT data integration, data architecture, and AI-ready data preparation.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing BI strategies, dashboards, and self-service analytics tools.
- Proficiency with BI platforms like Tableau, ThoughtSpot, Power BI, or Looker.
- Experience with generative AI and machine learning solutions applied to business processes.
- Proficiency in SQL, data warehousing, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Strong knowledge of data governance, data quality management, and best practices for scalable data solutions.
- Exceptional project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify technical concepts for business audiences.
- Broad knowledge across multiple technologies including big-data solutions, microservices, container, cloud-based solutions, and integration methodologies.
- In-depth knowledge of data management strategies, principles, and practices.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
