POSITION SUMMARY
As the world leader in animal health, Zoetis seeks to integrate Data and Analytics with its diverse portfolio of animal health products to create additional value to customers and enhance overall customer experience.
Over the last four years Zoetis created a new Data and Digital Platform (DDP) and associated Data Platform team, to drive a step change in the company’s ability to harness data, particularly data generated by the expanding portfolio of Digital Products, to generate disruptive data insights for our customers and colleagues. More recently we have started to rollout innovate AI tooling and business solutions.
Having successfully delivered on original objectives, this new role within the Data platform and Architecture Team will have the opportunity to lead the implementation of best practice approaches to Data Governance, Knowledge Management and Data Discovery and to democratize data across Zoetis.
This role will introduce data governance frameworks and policies and drive change by collaborating across all levels the organization. Expectational leadership skills will be required to align people, process, data, and technology to both manage and market Zoetis data assets.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Governance Responsibilities
- Instigate enterprise-wide stakeholder engagement and collaboration including establishing a Governance Council.
- Establish Data Governance and Data Management Frameworks, covering data policies, standards, principles, and practices including Data Quality, and supporting review processes and organizational structures.
- Discovery and articulation of continuous evolving Zoetis Data Governance Strategy, including process ownership (self-governance or DDA assisted), prioritization of data domains, critical data elements and key metrics.
- Work with CDAO to formalize cross function responsibilities at Executive level and align with other data governance initiatives.
- Work with Business stakeholders’ level to assign Business Data Stewardship and Custodian roles and agree methods of collaborate with Data Catalyst Team.
- Drive Change and Influence Culture at all levels of organisation, acting as Data Governance Champion and establishing communities.
Knowledge Management & Discovery Responsibilities
- Broaden data access by leading development and rolling out Data Catalogs and Marketplaces, and ensure they are easily navigable and regularly updated, encouraging user engagement and exploration of data assets, including: -
- Process Design - Collaborate with stakeholders to identify Data SMEs, and design and implement new processes for Cataloguer/SME, User and Administration personas.
- Data Collection – Collaborate with the Business, ZTD, Data Architects and other DDA roles to define and gather Technical and Business Metadata.
- Technology and Tooling – Collaborate with Data Platforms and Governance Technology Lead and Data architects to introduce technology components of Zoetis ‘data governance’ and ‘knowledge management and data discovery’ frameworks.
Leadership and Democratize Data Responsibility
- Provide Leadership and accountability for ‘day to day’ Data Catalyst team activity, including rremoving any barriers to adoption of DDA Data products.
- Ensure continuous appreciation of changing requirements and closely collaborate with the Business, ZTD, Data Architects and other DDA roles to lead projects and optimise data architecture, process and technology and appraise tooling across data governance, knowledge management and data democratisation objectives.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Degree in Business, IT or Hybrid discipline.
- 10+ years’ experience in Data Governance and/or Data Management, either in operational or consulting roles.
- 5+ years leadership experience of engaging in cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide programs, operating and influencing effectively across the organisation and within complex contexts.
- Proficient in data management concepts and best practice and have a strong understanding of all aspects of data governance, including data quality management, metadata management and tools, ETL data processing, data architecture (including semantic modelling), and data management and platform technology.
- Experience in relationship building to influence change.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Change management skills to facilitate adoption of new processes and data architectures.
- Leadership and mentoring abilities to guide and develop team members.
- Strong strategic thinking and ability to align data initiatives with business objectives.
- Analytical thinker with high level of intellectual curiosity, external perspective, and innovation interest e.g. AI.
- Business acumen to address specific data challenges, and balance technical excellence with pragmatic business solutionsYears of experience.

- Experience with use of Data Governance, Data Catalogue or Data Marketplace tools.
- Some technical experience in data engineering or software engineering is desirable.

The following base pay range reflects the anticipated base pay for this position if a selected candidate were to be located in (California), (NJ Remote), (NY Remote), or (Washington). Base pay may vary based on location and
other factors.
Base Pay Range: $134,000-$205,000
