WHAT YOU’LL DO:
In this role, you will combine your expertise in business understanding, data model development, BI presentation, and data development to create Analytics Models to power BI dashboards, reports, and similar analytics use cases for the Data Desk. You will work closely with business leaders, business analysts, data analysts, data scientists, and other stakeholders to ensure data is modeled in an easy to understand, easy to use, and highly scalable format for analysis. The ideal candidate has excellent business-facing acumen, a strong technical background in Analytics & BI, a passion for continuously improving business performance, and proven experience scaling BI capabilities with Analytics Models.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Data Desk: Support timely triage of incoming requests, ranging from ad-hoc report requests, to BI tool access, to metrics “how-to” questions. Manage to a well-defined SLA for response and closure.
- Collaboration with Data Teams:
Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and business intelligence teams to understand their data needs and provide clean, reliable, and high-quality datasets. Ensure that analytics tools and platforms are properly configured to support business intelligence and reporting. - Analytics Data Modeling:
Design and implement Analytics Data Models (Analytics Models) that enable business stakeholders to derive actionable insights from large datasets. Work closely with the analytics and business teams to ensure that data is structured effectively for analysis and reporting. - Cross-Functional Collaboration: Help serve as the bridge between routine Data requests and longer-termed strategic Data Initiatives, ensuring business requests are understood, responded to, and addressed in a timely manner.
- Automation & Efficiency: Automate repetitive tasks and data processing workflows to increase efficiency and reduce errors. Build and maintain tools to simplify data access, reporting, and analysis for end users.
- Data Governance & Security: Ensure that best practices in data governance, privacy, and security are implemented across all data systems. Work with compliance and legal teams to ensure data handling meets internal and regulatory standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest analytics and operational technologies. Continuously evaluate new tools and approaches to improve the efficiency, scalability, and quality of data systems.
- Documentation: Create and maintain clear documentation for Analytic Models and Data Flows. Ensure that your solutions are well-documented, easy to understand, and easy to modify by other team members and stakeholders.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
- 3-5 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a similar role.
- 2-3 years domain experience with key metrics, KPIs, and analytics workstreams in Marketing, Sales, Finance, Customer Success, Product, or Human Resources (ideally 2 or more areas).
- Proven ability to deliver Analytics Models that impactful business outcomes with Metrics, KPIs, and Insights.
- Proven experience building Analytics Models for use in BI reports, dashboards, and other downstream use cases with a deep understanding of the tradeoffs between Analytics Model formats.
- Expert level knowledge of SQL and experience working with cloud databases (e.g. BigQuery, Snowflake).
- Proficient in at least one BI tool (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker) to collaborate with stakeholders in visualizing data insights and ensuring compatibility with Analytics Models.
- Familiarity with data integration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Talend, DBT, Fivetran, Stitch) and how they integrate with Analytics Models.
- Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git) and collaborative development tools.
- Strong ability to work in cross-functional teams, collaborating with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
