Job Overview
The University of Cincinnati Libraries is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assessment and Evaluation Analyst to join our team. Reporting to the Associate Dean, Operations & User Services, this role focuses on planning, promoting, and sustaining a culture of assessment across the Libraries while articulating the value of academic library services.
The successful candidate will collaborate with library faculty and staff to strategize and coordinate the ongoing assessment and evaluation of resources, services, spaces, and technology. They will lead and participate in designing, collecting, analyzing, and documenting quantitative and qualitative assessment data to support data-driven decision-making.
This position is supported with 3-year funding and may be renewed. Should additional and/or permanent funding be secured, the position may be extended.

Essential Functions
• Lead and manage the preparation and submission of standard library reports (e.g., ARL, IPEDS, ACRL).
• Collaborate with library faculty and staff to design and implement assessment strategies, performance indicators, and metrics for operations, including collections, facilities, instruction, and technology
• Conduct qualitative and quantitative research to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of library resources, services, programs, spaces, and technology.
• Communicate findings and datasets through presentations, dashboards, and reports for internal and external audiences.
• Analyze activities, statistics, and institutional trends, benchmarking against peer institutions and national trends.
• Coordinate the collection, preservation, and dissemination of assessment data and reports.
• Ensure compliance with institutional and external reporting requirements.
• Represent UC Libraries on University of Cincinnati Data Governance Committee
• Create the policies and procedures required to establish a culture of collecting and using data.
• Select and administer a validated, national user needs assessment prior to the next strategic planning cycle.
• Plan and implement training and professional development for library staff on assessment methods, tools, and ethical considerations.
• Create and maintain assessment aids, guides, webpages, and tutorials.
• Perform related duties as needed by the department and division.
Required Education
• Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field such as Engineering, Statistics, Math, Computer Science or related field.
• Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
Required Experience
Three (3) years of experience in managing large data sets, analyzing statistical techniques and software, and reporting data in a meaningful format.
Additional Qualifications Considered
• ALA-accredited master’s degree in library and information science or equivalent education library experience (e.g., statistics, data science, analytics, education).
• Experience in a public library or in an academic setting, preferably in an academic/research library.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods.
• Proficiency in data management and reporting tools, with familiarity in analysis and visualization software (e.g., Excel, Tableau, PowerBI).
• Experience with, or ability to learn, statistical and data visualization tools and library-specific analytics platforms like Alma or Primo Analytics.
• Demonstrated awareness of library assessment issues and trends, with practical knowledge of assessment instruments (e.g., surveys, focus groups, rubrics).
• Project management experience, including designing assessment projects, analyzing data, and guiding data-driven decision-making.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, with a commitment to fostering an inclusive and user-centered approach.
