The Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HA/DR) Systems Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory develops, adapts, and deploys advanced technologies to address today’s most significant disaster and humanitarian challenges. We extend emerging technical capabilities to underserved HA/DR mission areas and populations; example problem areas include remote sensing and situational awareness in post-disaster environments, improving community resilience and disaster preparedness, climate change adaptation and mitigation, counter human trafficking, new techniques for search and rescue, community development and resilience, and humanitarian aid security and delivery.
Job Description
Our Group is actively seeking undergraduate and graduate degree-seeking students in engineering, computer science, applied mathematics, and related disciplines across the technology spectrum to work alongside Lincoln Laboratory staff in interdisciplinary teams. Skills and interest in systems analysis and prototyping, novel data science and analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and software development are highly encouraged.
- Proficiency in scientific programming languages (such as Python or Matlab), experience in data science, data analysis, and the ability to interpret and analyze complex systems are required.
- For select projects, experience in the following is highly desired:
- machine learning techniques and tools (such as PyTorch or TensorFlow)
- software engineering concepts (such as version control)
- schema and protocol development
- spatial data science
- geospatial analytics
Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.
