Azure Synapse Platform Engineer Job

Who we are 

We are seeking a skilled Azure Data Platform Engineer to manage and optimize our Azure-based data platform. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Azure infrastructure, Synapse components, and troubleshooting techniques. They will ensure platform reliability, compliance, and cost efficiency while collaborating with the team to meet business needs.

What you'll be doing

• Design, deploy, and manage Azure infrastructure, including IaaS, PaaS, virtual networks, storage, and security configurations
• Maintain and optimize Synapse components such as SQL pools, Spark pools, and Data Explorer pools
• Ensure platform reliability through performance tuning, issue resolution, and high-availability strategies
• Implement governance, authentication, and authorization best practices, with a focus on segregation of duties and cost management
• Collaborate with internal teams to align platform capabilities with analytics and business requirements

What you'll bring along

• Bachelor’s degree in Informatics/ or similar field of study/or equivalent working experience is required
• A min 5-7 years demonstrable experience in a similar role is required
• Strong expertise in Azure infrastructure (storage, networking, and security)
• Experience in deploying and managing Azure Synapse components (SQL pools, Spark pools etc.)
• Proven ability to troubleshoot, optimize, and ensure reliability within the Azure Synapse environment
• Knowledge of governance and compliance practices, including cost management and network configurations
• Optional Skills
• Proficiency in Azure Synapse for data integration, big data analytics, and data warehousing
• Familiarity with Azure Machine Learning for supporting MLOps infrastructure (no hands-on ML required)
• Knowledge of Azure Event Hubs for real-time data ingestion and stream processing
• Experience in implementing end-to-end solutions using Azure Synapse, ML, and Event Hubs
• Understanding of Allianz-specific compliance and governance requirements (GISF, SPM, ARA)
