The Morrison School of Agribusiness in the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral scholar position starting Spring 2025, with the possibility of a one-year renewal contingent upon funding and needs of the unit. This position is available under the supervision of Ashok K. Mishra, Kemper and Ethel Marley Chair. The postdoctoral scholar will conduct research on issues regarding agricultural labor, empirical industrial organization, or supply chain resilience. The postdoctoral scholar will also be expected to engage in funded research efforts, and support the overall research mission of the unit.

Essential Functions:  The candidate must contribute to the Morrison School of Agribusiness’ research mission. The candidate will conduct research as agreed with the Morrison Chair of Agribusiness, and pursue their own research interests concurrently. The candidate must also engage in both independent and collaborative research efforts, including writing proposals for research funding, participating in the Morrison School seminar series, attend national and regional research meetings, and engage with other researchers in the Morrison School. 

The Morrison School of Agribusiness, located at Arizona State University's Polytechnic Campus is a unit within the nationally-ranked W. P. Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

A Ph.D. from an accredited institution in business administration, agricultural economics, agribusiness, economics or closely related field. Candidates must have degree completed and in-hand by start date. International applicants are welcome to apply; candidates must be eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Potential for excellence in research and teaching in an area of applied economics or business related to the examination of the food and agribusiness industry, including but not limited to topics such as climate change and resilience, food security & nutrition, risk management and insurance.
  • Extensive research background with expertise in advanced applied econometrics (e.g., spatial econometric models, treatment effects models, mixed effects models, generalized method of moments, structural modeling, etc.)
  • Experience managing large household and intra-household surveys, and proficiency in working with GIS data. Experience in policy analysis, data analytics, or any other relevant field.
  • Skills in implementing research, strong econometric and modeling skills and data science, someone with advanced programming skills in data science languages (e.g., Python, R, SAS, STATA, or another, as expected), the ability to produce verbal and written communication appropriate for a range of audiences, including scholarly reports and publications.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills that foster teamwork and collaboration, the ability to work effectively individually and as part of a large interdisciplinary team, and the ability to coordinate multiple academic projects.
