Job Family Definition:

The job family spans across multiple engineering disciplines. Work consists of designing, developing, analyzing, troubleshooting and debugging systems, software and solutions for research and/or research development of product, services, and solutions for HPE’s portfolio. Requires a broad knowledge and application of engineering disciplines, methodologies and tools. 

Job Family Definition for Executive Levels only: Directs and manages a diverse team of engineering professionals performing research, development, design and/or implementation of products, services, solutions for the company’s portfolio. Responsible for creating and communicating technical strategy within the organization and/or across the function.

Management Level Definition:

Unique and pivotal contributions have major, lasting technical impact across business units or product lines, or on industry disruptive products/technologies. Recognized authority internally and externally with a track record of creating and delivering impactful leading-edge technologies, theories, or techniques. Applies financial insights to weigh implications of technical choices or investments. Mentors others and role models leadership within the HPE technical community, and engages with the external community.

Responsibilities:

  • Define innovative strategy and technology roadmaps for the design and development of complex products, platforms, systems, software, and technology across multiple engineering disciplines, platforms, Global Business Units, and the company at large.
  • Advises executive staff on strategy and technology roadmaps, communicates to industry partners and customers; leverages recognized technical and business expertise to influence, guide, and shape business strategy and decision- making at the highest organizational levels.
  • Leverages industry expertise to provide consultation, design input, and feedback for new product development and design reviews across multiple organizations and architectures.
  • Demonstrates leadership by participating in the technical community, as well as guiding and mentoring less-experienced team members to set an example of engineering design innovation and excellence.
  • Actively participates in and contributes valuable insights to the process of selecting future leaders, shaping the trajectory of leadership within the organization.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's, Master's or PHD degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or other Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • Typically 15+ years’ experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Industry expert regarding engineering product design, development, standards, and architectures.
  • History of innovation with multiple examples of developing industry-leading technologies and practices for designs.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Designing and integrating technologies, solutions, and practices into overall product architecture.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language, with an excellent ability to communicate nuanced concepts and influence in written and oral communication with a broad vocabulary.
  • Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals, and negotiate options at the most senior organizational levels.
