The opportunity:

We have an exciting new role for a Data Management Lead in our London office. As a Data Management Lead you will be responsible for overseeing data discovery, analysis and implement data management practices with operational improvements for Markel. You will have the opportunity to dive into the data and produce end to end data analysis to partners across the business. Within this role you will work with a variety of teams and collaborators to drive the data flow and provide solutions as well as providing in depth data with while working with new tools.

What you’ll be doing:

Conduct a comprehensive analysis of the Enterprise data and operational processes for data management and governance. Be able to diagnose and address root causes of data consistency challenges, ensuring streamlined data sources for shared services teams

Identify and recommend data management solutions that reduce duplication and discrepancies across sources to streamline workflows that create operational complexities

Collaborate closely with technology, shared services and business key partners within Markel to establish data integration pipelines, transformations, and robust data governance practices

Enable data management activities through data governance & catalogue such as modelling, categorisation, quality rules, and metadata management of data through regulatory requirements specific to the insurance industry

Analyse and lead the evolution of streamlined data mapping rules to ensure uniform, accurate, and consistent data transformation across integrated systems

Establish and implement robust data quality standards and data governance practices, establishing clear data lineage

Navigate the realm of change management seamlessly, orchestrating the integration of process enhancements and technology implementations

Establish and run a repository of documentation to ensure transparency and accountability in data governance processes

Our must-haves:

Experience of managing and integrating multiple data sources, data standards and architecture frameworks

Developed and worked within an effective data governance framework where processes and documentation are clearly understood and managed. This includes experience of measuring and improving service delivery within a data environment

Hands on experience in tools used to support data management, specifically metadata management, data cataloguing, data lineage and data quality

Experience within the Insurance Industry

Can communicate effectively across different partners at all levels of the organisation.

Ability to resolve and prioritise activities across competing demands

Experience working with multiple teams to drive alignment and results

Strong competency for self-managing and providing regular status to leadership for risks, actions and decisions
