Programme Details

  • Start Date: September 2025

  • Duration: 2 years

  • Structure: Three individual eight-month placements

  • Focus Areas: Machine learning, AI, and data science in drug discovery and development

What You’ll Gain

Placement Opportunities

  • Target Identification: Identify new targets for novel medicines.

  • Drug Design and Development: Optimize the design, development, and manufacturing of new drugs.

  • Clinical Trials and Digital Health: Redefine clinical trials and digital health to improve patient experience and outcomes.

Essential Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative science (e.g., Maths, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science) awarded in 2024 or due by September 2025.

  • Experience: Hands-on experience in Data Science, AI, Machine Learning, Statistics, Computational Biology, Computational Chemistry, Bioinformatics, or Cheminformatics.

  • Technical Skills: Deep understanding of key machine learning or statistical models. Proficiency in Python or multiple data-centric programming languages for Big Data analysis.

  • Attributes: Innovative thinking, enthusiasm, energy, drive, strong critical thinking, planning, organizational and time management skills, and ability to work collaboratively.

Application Process

  • Location: You will be based in Cambridge throughout the 2-year duration. No international placements are offered.

  • Assessment: After submitting your application, you will complete an online assessment (SHL). Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a full-day virtual assessment day.
