Applicants should ideally possess a Master’s degree or above in the field of Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, Public Health, or another related discipline.
The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Clinical Professor Dr. Peter Tanuseputro. Prof Tanuseputro is a family physician and a public health physician who has recently joined the University of Hong Kong. He conducts health services research using ‘big data’ in the areas of primary care, end-of-life care, and care for frail and vulnerable populations. He runs research in a team-based environment, with a focus on development of both junior faculty and research staff.
The successful candidate should have good command of written and spoken English. They will have good communication skills and have the ability to work independently while staying organized. They will be strong analytically with a good understanding of quantitative research methods. They will have a strong biostatistics foundation and strong coding abilities. They would have shown evidence of academic excellence in their undergraduate/post-graduate studies.
They are expected to perform data analyses on large health databases, including that of Hong Kong’s Hospital Authority. They will conduct data cleaning, statistical analyses, and work with the research staff and trainees on the team, along with other scientists. They will be an author on academic papers for which they performed analyses on, have the opportunity to present their work, and perform other tasks as needed for the team. There will be ample opportunities to work with research and health professionals to develop a research career in health and health services.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
