The Opportunity:

The Principal Architect, Data & Analytics will play a critical role in designing and managing data architectures that support Sentrex’s operations and strategic goals. This role involves working closely with various stakeholders, including internal partners in Pharmacy and PSP, to understand their data needs, developing robust data models, and ensuring the integrity, security, and compliance of our data assets.

A Day in the Life (What you will do here):

Architectural Design and Development:

  • Design Data Architectures: Develop and implement scalable, efficient data architectures tailored to pharmaceutical distribution needs, including inventory management, order processing, and compliance reporting.
  • Develop Data Models: Create and maintain comprehensive data models that support various aspects of the business, such as supply chain operations and business intelligence.
  • Ensure Compliance: Align data architecture with regulatory requirements, including those set by Health Canada and other relevant industry standards.

Data Management and Integration:

  • Data Integration: Oversee the integration of data from disparate sources, including warehouse management systems, Pharmacy dispense systems and CRM tools, ensuring seamless data flow and consistency.
  • Data Governance: Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, accuracy, security, and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Data Quality: Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to enhance data quality and optimize data pipelines for improved performance and reporting.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Requirement Gathering: Work closely with internal stakeholders, such as operations, compliance, pharmacy, PSP and finance teams, to understand their data needs and translate these needs into technical requirements and solutions.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide expert guidance on data-related projects and initiatives, including system upgrades and new technology deployments.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate complex data concepts and architecture solutions to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clarity and actionable insights.

Technology Evaluation and Implementation:

  • Tool Assessment: Evaluate and recommend data management tools, technologies, and platforms that are suitable for the company.
  • Technology Adoption: Stay current with emerging data technologies and industry trends, leading the adoption of new tools and ensuring their effective integration into existing systems, including the use of AI, ML and driving change within the organization
  • Platform Management: Manage and optimize the use of data management platforms, ensuring they meet organizational and industry-specific needs.

Project Management:

  • Project Oversight: Manage data architecture projects from initiation through completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Coordination: Coordinate with cross-functional teams to facilitate the integration and deployment of data solutions, addressing any issues that arise during the project lifecycle.
  • Progress Monitoring: Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and provide regular status updates to senior management.

Documentation and Training:

  • Documentation: Develop and maintain detailed documentation for data architectures, data models, and data management processes, ensuring they are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Training: Provide training and support to team members and end-users on data best practices, tools, and technologies, fostering a culture of data excellence within the organization.

Compliance and Security:

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all data management practices adhere to regulatory requirements and industry standards, particularly those specific to the pharmaceutical distribution industry in Canada.
  • Data Security: Implement and monitor data security measures to protect sensitive information and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by the manager

What you need to ensure you are set up for success:

  • Expert knowledge of latest software engineering technological and innovations
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Data Management Professional) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, and data management roles.
  • Proficiency in data modeling tools, database management systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL), data warehousing technologies and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and data security best practices. Familiarity with big data technologies and analytics platforms is advantageous.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, strong analytical abilities, and effective communication skills. Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
