Data Engineer - Meteorology

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer with expertise in Meteorology to enhance our next-generation commodity technology platform. This role offers excellent growth opportunities and the chance to work with cutting-edge technologies in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:

• Develop research and trading applications using Python and AWS technologies.
• Create and maintain data pipeline architecture.
• Extract, transform, and load data from various sources using Python and SQL.
• Provide users access to datasets using REST and Python APIs.
• Analyze and manage large datasets from market and alternative data vendors.
• Develop high-resolution NWP models for short-term power desks.
• Communicate data insights to investment teams and develop visualization dashboards.
• Back test datasets to assess their correlation to company KPIs.

Mandatory Requirements:

• 3+ years’ experience with a Masters or 5+ years with a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, Meteorology, or related field.
• 2+ years of professional experience with Python application development or data analysis libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, etc.
• Knowledge of meteorological variables, concepts, and industry-standard practices.
• Experience with weather data types such as GRIB, NetCDF, and Zarr.
• Proficient in writing SQL queries and hands-on experience with ETL processes.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Requirements:

• Experience in financial institutions, preferably in commodities.
• Familiarity with quantitative finance and electronic trading concepts.
• Familiarity with AWS technologies (S3, Athena, SQS, Batch, Lambda).
• Experience with DevOps practices (Docker/Kubernetes).
