Technical Pricing Manager

Hybrid working with up to 4 days per week from home

Staines, London or Manchester

Permanent

£80K - £90K per annum

Fantastic benefits including 10% Management Bonus Scheme

As our Technical Pricing Manager you’ll be pivotal in managing a team responsible for delivery, maintenance and improvement of technical price models that
underpin analysis and pricing across Bupa’s UK Insurance and Global lines of business.

What you'll do:

  • Manage your team in developing and maintaining statistical & machine learning models of technical claims costs to support pricing, and deliver assets that provide insight into customer decision making behaviours, across all UKI and Bupa Global Product lines.

  • Monitoring our catalogue of models, ensuring assets remain relevant for business mix written, model predictions are accurate and representative of future experience, and adapting the models promptly when required.

  • Identify, source and model candidate new data resources that will further enhance our stable of Pricing models.

  • Support & deliver value from our cloud migration program of Pricing Data assets.

  • Monitor, analyse and interpret any internal or external information / market activity / regulatory change which may impact on future technical claims costs.

  • Collaborating with the financial forecasting and clinical analytics teams to develop sophisticated claims inflation models that underpin our technical pricing models.

  • Relentlessly embed efficient processes, automating tasks where required to reduce any drag on your teams resources.

  • Foster an environment where your team continuously develops their skills, and encourage innovation in their analyses.

  • Providing analytical support and subject matter expertise to cross-functional projects

  • Evaluating the impact of new regulatory developments and making recommendations in terms of a pricing and underwriting response, ensuring all assets produced deliver outcomes as prescribed by pricing risk policies.

What you'll bring:

The role holder is expected to have the following qualification(s), skills and experience:

  • Qualified Actuary (IFoA) or equivalent – strong, newly qualified candidates will be considered

  • Ideally PMI pricing experience – but candidates with pricing experience in wider general insurance sectors will be considered

  • Extensive experience of Statistical & Machine learning model production and maintenance.

  • Experience with suitable statistical and analytical tools such as SAS, Emblem, Radar and R / Python,

  • Proven track record of applying analytics and data modelling to business situations in order to provide strategic recommendations. Ability to refine and apply knowledge of data to solve business needs.

  • A proactive mindset, challenging requirements, seeing things from a customer's viewpoint and exploring new directions from results of analyses

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, and a high performance track record in managing analytical teams.
