ISS STOXX is growing! ISS STOXX is actively looking for an Associate- Reference Data Management to Join our Data Management Operations (DMO) team in Mumbai Team (Goregaon East).

Overview:

Data Management function is responsible for ensuring accuracy, completeness and reliability of master and reference data about indexes, companies, funds, financial instruments, corporate ownership, financial statements and ratios, and market price and performance. It develops approaches, logic, methodology and business requirements for acquiring, modeling, integrating, mastering, cross-referencing and distributing data. This data is then used in our client-facing data and benchmark platforms, analytics tools and research offerings. The team also develops database testing strategy, scenarios and automated test frameworks. It performs database testing, defines data quality rules, monitors and resolves data quality issues and maintains metadata, user guides and relevant techno-functional documents.

Responsibilities:

Knowledge acquisition, sharing and management

  • Develop and maintain deep understanding of reference and master data sets and underlying data architecture, processes, methodology, and systems

  • Define, document, and maintain data standards, definition, methodology, logic, and processes

  • Respond to queries raised by data users about data, definition, logic, and methodology

  • Periodically conduct content training for internal data consumers

BAU

  • Resolve data quality issues raised by data consumers in a timely manner by doing independent research/root-cause analysis and working with data vendors and collection team

  • Maintain index constituents and other reference data sets

  • Track corporate actions such as merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, holding company restructuring etc. and maintain company master data as per proprietary approach to handling corporate actions

  • Define, develop, and maintain automated data quality tests and metrices, monitor exceptions and take corrective measures

Proactive

  • Define scope of and execute projects to improve data quality at scale

  • Propose solutions to systematically fix quality issues

  • Work with vendors to institutionalize stricter quality controls in their supply chain

Team

  • Be a mentor to juniors and assist them in their work while managing own work

  • Contribute to developing a culture of constant learning, incremental innovation and continuous improvement

Qualifications:

  • Post-graduate in commerce, accounting, finance, economics or business. Exceptional graduates may also be considered.

  • Basic to intermediate level hands-on experience in SQL

  • 4 to 5 years of experience in data management/governance/quality/audit/operations in capital markets data domain

  • Good data research skills. Familiarity with primary sources such as company websites, exchanges, regulators, trade associations, corporate registries, ANNA, CUSIP Global Services, or systems such as EDGAR, SEDAR and UK Companies House

  • A good understanding of content provided by one or more vendors such as Refinitiv/Lipper, Morningstar, Bloomberg, S&P, Factset, IDC, EDI, IHS Markit and stock exchanges

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong ability to interact and collaborate with data consumers, business leaders and data vendors globally

  • Superior analytical, reasoning, and logical skills coupled with strong problem-solving skills

  • Experience in working with high-volume data sets

  • Self-starter and quick learner

  • Ability to adapt and work in a fast-paced environment independently with little supervision

Good to have:

  • Certifications/online courses related to capital markets/finance

  • Certifications in SQL
