The Opportunity at Komodo Health:

Komodo Health leverages the latest data engineering technology to tackle some of healthcare’s biggest challenges by transforming extraordinary amounts of data into rich and meaningful insights. As a Staff Data Architect on the Data Foundations team, you will help drive the development of Komodo Health’s state-of-the-art data products, and unlock the potential of our Healthcare Data Map.  Your work will be instrumental in designing and implementing data management systems, enhancing the data platform stack, contributing to different engineering teams’ maturity, and partnering with Data Product to explore, prototype, and bring data products to market

  • Managed, coordinated, and delivered on key projects that advance our ability to bring new Data Services to market
  • Developed a deep understanding of healthcare-specific challenges and introduced innovative data systems and software techniques that address these
  • Partnered with Data Product and Engineering teams to develop technical requirements, project roadmaps, and delivery of robust solutions
  • Actively collaborated with team members to mentor and up-level 

These are the essential job duties you will be responsible for …

  • Partnering with Engineering team members, Product Managers, Data Scientists, and customer-facing teams to understand complex health data use cases and business logic
  • Support and influence the design and building of our data platform architecture, pipelines, analytics, and services underlying our platform 
  • Architecting and developing data models that support data product requirements and enable engineers to scale pipelines
  • Act as a key enabler and contributor to the different engineering teams in enhancing their maturity from data ingestion through product delivery

What you bring to Komodo Health (required):

  • Deep expertise in U.S. healthcare claims data is strongly  preferred but other clinical data experience is also acceptable 
  • Extensive experience building scalable, best-in-class solutions that combine theoretical rigor with implementation efficiency
  • Demonstrated record of thought leadership and solution design that spans from high-level conceptual frameworks to detailed execution plans
  • Strong ability to communicate clearly and openly with both technical and non-technical teams
  • Knowledge of large-scale data and computational technologies and data modeling techniques
  • Experience with SQL and query design on large, complex datasets 
  • Ability to use a variety of relational, NoSQL, Postgres, and/or MPP databases (ideally Snowflake on AWS) 
  • Lead data modeling, schema design, and data storage best practices

Additional skills and experience we’d prioritize (nice to have)…

  • Clinical data experience is a strong plus
  • Good understanding of AI/ML concepts and use cases.
  • Experience with building and deploying applications as containers using Docker and Kubernetes

Compensation at Komodo Health

The pay range for each job posting reflects a minimum and maximum range of pay that we reasonably expect to pay across all U.S. locations and may span more than one career level. We carefully consider multiple business-related factors when determining compensation, including job-related skills, work experience, geographic work location, relevant training and certifications, business needs and market demands.

The U.S. national starting annual base pay for this role is listed below. This position may be eligible for performance-based bonuses as determined in the Company’s sole discretion and in accordance with a written agreement or plan.$179,000—$241,000 USD

Where You’ll Work

Komodo Health has a hybrid work model; we recognize the power of choice and importance of flexibility for the well-being of both our company and our individual Dragons. Roles may be completely remote based anywhere in the country listed, remote but based in a specific region, or local (commuting distance) to one of our hubs in San Francisco, New York City, or Chicago with remote work options.
