Description:
Support the High Voltage Battery Assembly Quality, Measurement, and Test areas with development of process, analytics, innovations, and software tool improvements. Engage in problem solving related to product quality and process flow topics in the department. Work with expert teams to iterate on existing concepts to improve transparency of the quality landscape, validation processes, and information flow management. Also, imagine the next generation of information management and software tools and assess feasibility and potential benefits to our organization.
The qualified intern/Co-op should expect to contribute & improve in the following functions:
- Quality, Data Analytics, Problem Solving: Engage in Problem solving in the Department related to KPI impacts and quality.
- Develop new ways to display operations data that facilitates a faster and clearer path from problem recognition to solution.
- Participate in problem solving activities in department to improve KPI’s and develop new methods and tools.
- Develop or enhance tools to improve visibility of plant quality process adherence. Includes interfacing with existing plant quality management IT systems. This may include suggesting and testing new ideas that don’t yet exist.
- Launch Preparations: Support management and quality teams to enhance processes related to production, validation and testing related to new project launch processes in the department.
- Creation of innovative dashboards to quantify, understand and visualize all the intricacies of launching future product in BMW Plant Woodruff.
- Create process sheets for problem management and data quality activities.
- Develop data sources and visualization to make production processes more transparent.
- Develop further use applications for Artificial Intelligence cases in quality, measurement, and test areas.
- Investigate innovation opportunities related to corresponding needs of quality, measurement, and production processes.
- Perform exploratory data analysis to identify patterns, correlations, and trends.
- With management and mentor support, initiate cross functional collaboration for problem solving and process improvement.
- Conduct statistical analysis to uncover insights and support decision making processes.
- Support the implementation and optimization of data analytics tools and processes.
- Leave a legacy: update co-op manual and onboarding information. Align with past and future interns and co-ops. Develop your skills and resume for future employment.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Engineering degree (preferably electrical, computer, mechanical, or industrial) / Data Science / Statistics or related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Some familiarity with data manipulation and tools such as Python or SQL.
- Some familiarity with data visualization such as tools like Tableau or Power BI, etc.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and show initiative.
- Organized.
- German language not required but is a plus.
- Must commit to three co-op rotations as an enrolled student.
- Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major).
- Have enrolled student status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
- Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application.
- Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours / week).
- Transfer students must have a GPA from current university.
- MUST ATTACH A COPY OF UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT.
- Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.
- THE WORK TERM DATES ARE May 19th – August 8th, 2025.
