Job Description

Salary: 2650 EUR gross monthly

We are looking for a Data Specialist (FinCrime Operations) to join our growing financial crime fighting team at Wise. As a Data Specialist your main focus is to provide operational reporting from an analytical perspective and provide data support in regards to product changes impact on operational work, partners and audits. You will also play a key role in supporting the launch of new products/processes and supporting implementation of meaningful changes in the operational team. You will collaborate closely with internal teams, including Compliance, Banking, and Product, to provide data insights and address complex challenges.

 

The role as a Data Specialist gives you the opportunity to:

  • Use Looker and BI tools for root cause analysis, operational performance reviews, and trend identification;

  • Present data-driven insights and problem areas to other internal teams, such as product, analytics, operations, banking, compliance teams;

  • Ensure KPIs visibility and insights to changes affecting operational work;

  • Create visibility of the team's daily workload and efficiency. Monitor those metrics and highlight issues if detected;

  • Collaborate with teams on scalability plans, short-term problem-solving, and data-driven initiatives;

  • Improve the team’s Looker and data interpretation skills through coaching and sharing learnings from own projects;

  • Support operational excellence by documenting processes and maintaining knowledge spaces in the domain;

  • Act as a liaison between operations, product, and other internal teams to ensure seamless communication and alignment.

Qualifications

  • You’re located and legally authorised to work in Estonia.

  • Ability to identify root causes, formulate hypotheses, and escalate issues effectively;

  • Proficiency in BI tools (e.g., Looker) for data visualization.

  • Excellent documentation, communication, and organizational skills;

  • Self-starter with leadership capabilities, making independent decisions within scope;

  • Readiness to learn and understand financial crime processes, with the ability to explain them to external stakeholders;

  • Proven relationship-building and collaboration skills with internal and external stakeholders;

  • Ability to prioritize high-impact tasks and measure their outcomes;

  • Skilled in project management, including creating and managing plans independently;

  • Effective in conflict resolution, negotiation, and public presentations;

  • Comfortable giving and receiving feedback professionally;

  • Experience in managing complex, multi-faceted projects with minimal supervision;

  • Strong verbal and written English skills (additional languages are a plus);

  • Basic knowledge of SQL is an advantage and can help with querying and analyzing data effectively, but it is not a strict requirement.
