Position Summary:

The Peter Munk Cardiac Center is thrilled to announce an exceptional opportunity for two talented AI Scientists to join our dynamic team. You will be working directly under the visionary leadership of our Chief AI Scientist. We are looking for candidates with a PhD and an impressive publication record, specializing in areas such as Computational Biology, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Computer Vision, or Human-Computer Interaction. This is a unique chance to be at the cutting edge of AI research in healthcare, driving projects that make a tangible impact on patient outcomes and clinical practices around the globe. Duties

  • Lead ground-breaking research and create cutting-edge AI models that push the boundaries of your field.
  • Collaborate with diverse, multidisciplinary teams across UHN to leverage AI technologies in tackling some of healthcare’s most pressing challenges.
  • Publish your research in prestigious journals and present your findings at top international conferences, shaping the future of AI in healthcare.
  • Mentor and inspire the next generation of researchers, fostering a culture of academic excellence and innovation within the team.
  • Drive the development of high-impact proposals, securing funding from leading national and international grant agencies to fuel your research.
  • Actively engage with the global scientific community, exchanging ideas and forging new collaborations to expand UHN's leadership in AI advancements.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Demonstrable strong publication record in top-tier journals and conferences.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following fields: Computational Biology, NLP, Computer Vision, Human-Computer Interaction.
  • Expertise in SOTA models- primarily foundation models and large language models
  • Proficiency in programming languages and tools relevant to your area of expertise, such as Python, R, TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a diverse, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
