WHAT TO EXPECT
 
As a senior member of the Data and AI Office (DAIO), you will lead Data and AI governance and trust within Information and Digital Technology (IDT) and across business functions, defining, championing, facilitating and measuring Data and AI governance and trust take-up and impact at JLR.

 

You will;

 

  • lead on Data and AI governance and trust
  • develop, implement and operate the Data and AI Governance Framework and Policies without compromising the efficiency of business operations.
  • define the Data and AI Ethics and Trust

 

You will be the prime custodian of Data and AI governance and trust for applications and products utilising Data and AI technology. You will ensure standards compliance cross business and compliance with Data and AI regulations, mainly the GDPR and the EU AI Act, without compromising the efficiency of business operations.

 

You will provide expertise, collaborate with and advise other functions, withing the DAIO and across the IDT organisation and the wider enterprise to ensure Data and AI governance and trust is rolled out and followed across JLR.

 

You will be expected to teach, mentor and present at conferences on the topics of Data and AI governance and trust as well as coaching and promoting Data and AI governance and trust at JLR.

 

THE ROLE
 
Key Responsibilities

 

  • Develop and deliver the Data and AI governance and trust strategy to support IDT and DAIO objectives and streamline data and AI operations
  • Define, monitor, and manage Data and AI governance and trust standards and processes for IDT and the wider business, ensuring they support fast-paced and trustworthy delivery
  • Orchestrate JLR Data and AI governance and trust activities across the organisation with standardised approaches in:
    • Data Mapping, Modelling & Business Glossary; Data Quality & Measurement; Search, Lineage & Metadata Management; Master Data Management; Data Sharing, Security, Privacy
    • Review of requests for AI products and enablement of AI features embedded in applications
    • Inventory and catalogue of AI products and applications to ensure compliance with regulations
  • Develop, maintain, and improve a business-aligned governance and trust framework and policies for Data and AI, ensuring compliance with regulations like GDPR and the EU AI Act
  • Act as the core point of contact for Information Management and Data and AI governance and trust status, risks, innovations, and initiatives
  • Measure and articulate the value of information management and Data and AI governance and trust initiatives
  • Develop metrics to measure progress towards Data and AI governance and trust targets
  • Establish and maintain enterprise-wide views of Data and AI ownership, health, compliance, and opportunities, with consistent monitoring and reporting
  • Stay abreast of current and emerging practices, risks, technologies, and legislation in Data and AI governance and trust
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, the wider business, external suppliers, and the Data and AI Office leadership team
  • Engage the communities of Data and AI Domain Owners, Data and AI Ambassadors, and Data and AI Domain Business Partners globally on Data and AI governance and trust topics
  • Work with the Head of Data-Driven Transformation to enable Data and AI Domain Owners to safeguard and improve Data and AI governance and trust practices
  • Collaborate with Data Protection and IDT functions, including CyberSecurity
  • Collaborate with Legal, Risk, and Compliance on internal audits and readiness for external audits; orchestrate corrective initiatives and execution roadmap
  • Collaborate with IDT Enterprise Data and business stakeholders to build compliance and operational efficiency for data and AI quality into new programme delivery
  • Link teams working on Data and AI across JLR with those responsible for ethics and privacy
  • Create OKRs and KPIs to measure compliance with Data and AI governance and trust policies
  • Define criteria for Data and AI products to achieve governance and trust compliance
  • Support the IDT Data Enablement and Adoption team on awareness, education, and training related to Data and AI governance and trust
  • Coach and mentor the JLR Data and AI community on governance and trust policies
  • Recommend tools to support compliance with the Data and AI governance and trust framework and policies
  • Lead on Data and AI risk management and compliance reviews
  • Prioritise issue resolution transparently and optimally with innovation and pragmatism
  • Act as an expert and advisor in resolving complex cross-domain data issues raised at the Data and AI Council
  • Lead and develop the talent within the Data and AI Governance and Trust team
  • Agree with functions on a common language for data and what constitutes critical data; act as the enterprise owner of the business glossary
  • Undertake any other work as directed by the line manager related to the job

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

  • BSc on Computer Science, Data Management, Artificial Intelligence or on a related field, or previous work experience
  • In-depth knowledge and technical expertise in Data and AI technologies, products, tools and processes
  • Strong understanding of Data and AI governance and trust
  • Ability to effectively explain complex ideas, confidently presenting these to senior stakeholders
  • Strong influencing and communicating skills across all organisation, including senior stakeholders and non-technical people
  • Deep understanding of the Data and AI regulatory regimes
  • Experience in facilitating workshops and engagement sessions

 

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience
 

  • MSc on Computer Science, Data Management, Artificial Intelligence or on a related field
  • Previous experience defining Data and AI governance and trust frameworks and policies
  • Significant experience teaching / coaching / mentoring developers and stakeholder in the societal challenges of Data and AI technology
