Chapter Lead Business Intelligence Engineering

Key responsibilities

Allianz Partners Data and Analytics function is responsible for Data Delivery, Data Governance and Business Intelligence activities within Allianz Partners globally. It delivers a global data initiative, which develops the governance and the technical design of a consolidated, harmonized data integration for modern data analytics.

Reporting to the Head of Business Intelligence (BI), you will be responsible implementing BI pro-jects and acting as the domain-specific chapter lead for BI engineers across all BI initiatives creating requirements based on business demands and accompanying the delivery process for dedicated BI projects and data initiatives.

As a Chapter Lead Business Intelligence Engineer, you are in charge of the following responsibilities: 

• Champion and guide the domain-specific expertise in BI engineering, serving as a visionary for emerging technologies and establishing BI standards for Allianz Partners.
• Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and best practices within the chapter and with other stakeholders to enrich the organization's expertise.
• Drive continuous improvement of the chapter's capabilities to deliver cutting-edge BI solutions.
• Collaborate and align objectives with teams such as data platform and data analytics to ensure cohesive progress.
• Engage actively in BI projects, contributing to the development of innovative BI solutions.
• Assist the Head of BI in cultivating a high-performing delivery team across the entire BI project portfolio.
• Oversee and refine the backlog of existing business and data analytics projects, enhancing the quality of requirements.
• Ensure excellence in project implementation through robust quality management.
• Play a pivotal role in implementing the overarching business and data strategy of Allianz Partners.
• Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to guarantee project success.

What you bring  

• You are passionate about shaping the future of Allianz Partners within a dynamic international setting and want to shape and implement the BI strategy. 
• Master's degree in fields such as business administration, economics, information technology, or mathematics.
• Several years of experience in BI, statistical analysis and data projects, preferably with a background in insurance.
• Senior expertise in Power BI (design, development, deployment), including proficiency in DAX, Power Query, and data modeling.
• Proficiency in data analysis.
• Skilled in SQL (extraction, transformation, analysis) and have experience working with relational databases.
• You are proficient in Spark and understand the Delta Lakehouse concept and have a strong grasp of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
• Experience with Azure Data Services, such as Azure Data Factory and Azure Storage Account, as well as Databricks.
• You embrace a DevQAOps mindset, taking responsibility for building, assuring, and owning solutions.
• You are knowledgeable in architecture and engineering design patterns and best practices.
• Experienced in visualizations for enterprise reporting solutions and are able to bring these to live as compelling story.
• Familiarity with visual customization using SVG, Deneb, or Python is an advantage.
• You thrive in a fast-paced work environment, demonstrating a hands-on mentality and strong team spirit.
• Excellent communication skills and can effectively collaborate with technical, underwriting, and actuarial experts, as well as senior management.
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
