09The Role: Business Data Engineer
The Team: CARFAX Europe GmbH provides trusted information that helps millions of people to shop, buy, own and sell used cars with more confidence. Our flagship service is our Vehicle History Report, a curriculum vitae for used vehicles to solve the asymmetric information problem in the used car market. Our customers get access to an extensive multinational database consisting of +27 billion historical records related to over 1 billion cars in +20 countries across Europe and North America. Today, we are a team of 100+ people in six European countries – while retaining a start-up feeling including flat hierarchies and flexible decision-making processes.
We are looking for employees who share our vision and who will help us achieve the goal of changing the used car market in Europe for the better.

We’re looking for a person with the following:
- At least 3 years working experience performing data analytics
- Advanced experience in writing SQL queries.
- Agile practices: pair programming, TDD, CI/CD, refactoring; breaking abstractions experience is highly appreciated.
- Basic knowledge of Python and common Python libraries for data analysis
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and support skills; you are a strategic thinker
- A keen eye for quality; detail-oriented working style
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, emphasizing technical writing
Advantage would be:
- Experience with ML/AI
- Experience with AWS or other public cloud data processing services is a plus
- Experience with ETL tools
- Experience with Airflow
