Metsä Board is looking for a skilled and motivated
DATA SCIENTIST
to join our Sales and Operation Planning (S&OP) Team on a permanent basis.
What is the job that awaits you?
In this role, you will leverage advanced analytics, machine learning, and optimization techniques to enhance forecasting accuracy, optimize supply chain processes, and enable strategic decision-making across the organization.
You will report directly to the Sales and Operations Planning Director and collaborate closely with various departments across the organization. You will be located in Metsä Head Office in Espoo or Tampere in Finland or Husum in Sweden.
Main responsibilities:
Data Analysis & Insights:
Analyse large datasets from sales, demand planning, inventory, and supply chain systems to identify patterns and trends
Build predictive models to improve demand forecasting and inventory optimization.
Advanced Modelling:
Develop and deploy machine learning models to support decision-making in S&OP processes, such as demand planning, production scheduling, and capacity planning.
Utilize optimization algorithms for resource allocation and supply chain efficiency
Integrate predictive analytics into S&OE and S&OP planning processes.
Generative AI:
Explore and implement Generative AI techniques to simulate demand scenarios, create synthetic datasets for training models, and uncover innovative approaches to address complex S&OP challenges
Drive the integration of generative AI solutions into forecasting, capacity planning, and scenario modelling for enhanced decision-making.
Data Engineering:
Work closely with data engineering teams to create and maintain scalable data pipelines
Integrate data from multiple sources to create a unified view for S&OP processes.
Tool Development:
Build and maintain dashboards and visualization tools to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and model outputs.
What kind of skills are we looking for?
We expect you to have relevant experience in data science, analytics, or related fields (with at least 2+ years focusing on supply chain or S&OP processes) and hands-on experience with advanced analytics in S&OP, including scenario modelling and sensitivity analysis. You would preferably have certifications in data science, cloud computing or supply chain management. You need to have a strong understanding of supply chain concepts, demand forecasting, and inventory management. You should have strong communication and stakeholder management skills. We require fluent oral and written communication skills in English.
To be successful in this position, you would need to have:
Proficiency in Python, R, or similar programming languages for data analysis and model development and experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
Experience in working with SQL, data lakes, and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP) and familiarity with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn)
Knowledge of optimization techniques and tools (e.g., Gurobi, CPLEX)
Familiarity with Generative AI frameworks and tools (e.g., Hugging Face, OpenAI APIs).
Experience with SAP S/4HANA and SAP IBP.
