Amazon Devices organization is looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer to deliver analytical solutions that deepen our understanding of customers. This is a unique opportunity for someone interested in working with big data in Amazon’s ever-expanding devices ecosystem, from Kindle to FireTV to the Echo/Alexa family of devices. You will be joining the International Devices Data Services (IDDS) team, whose mission is to enable data-driven decision-making by providing data, reporting, and actionable insights to business stakeholders. This is the central BI team for the International Devices org, serving the APAC region, Brazil, the EMEA region, and India.

We are looking for someone with excellent technical skills, analytical abilities, written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams. They are an expert with SQL, ETL, Tableau/QuickSight (or similar data visualization tools) and have an ability to quickly translate business requirements into technical solutions. The candidate is a self-starter and team player and able to think big while paying careful attention to detail.

In this role, the person will work closely with the Sales & Marketing teams, Marketing Managers, Data Engineers, and Analysts from across the Amazon Devices org.

The ideal candidate will:

-Build scalable reporting solutions and self-serve tools that provide data/KPIs to inform business decision making.
-Identify, develop, manage, and execute analyses to uncover areas of opportunity and present written business recommendations that will help shape sales & marketing roadmaps.
-Help automate manual processes through scripting.
-Leverage technical skills to invent on behalf of our business stakeholders.
-Develop a thorough understanding of Amazon’s devices data sets, customer behavior, competitive product trends, and business drivers to inform decision making.
-Work with data sources from across Amazon products & services (e.g., Alexa, Prime, Prime Video).

Key job responsibilities
-Owning the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards, to drive key business decisions.
-Champion best practices in data acquisition, identifying data needs, driving data quality improvement projects, and raising the technical bar for the team.
-Work with big data to drive insights related to customer needs.
-Collaborate with business stakeholders as a subject matter expert and BI leader.

In this role you will:

-Demonstrate excellent analytical and technical abilities, and use data to make recommendations that drive key business decisions.
-Design automated BI solutions for recurrent reporting.
-Be a self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity, has attention to detail, and can work in a fast-paced environment.
-Write crisp and clear narrative documents that translate complex analytics and technical topics for a business audience.
-Work in a collaborative and international team environment.
-Develop and execute data-driven ideas for innovation, automation, and efficiency.

About the team
The International Devices Data Services (IDDS) team’s mission is to enable data-driven decision making by providing data, reporting, and actionable insights to Amazon Devices. Our team has a diverse mix of talent, combining Business Intelligence Engineers, Data Engineers, and a Technical Program Manager into a single team which allows us to own data driven solutions end-to-end. We have technical skills across a wide range of technologies and AWS services to deploy solutions at scale.

Basic Qualifications


- Experience in analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc.
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- Experience with one or more industry analytics visualization tools (e.g. Excel, Tableau, QuickSight, MicroStrategy, PowerBI) and statistical methods (e.g. t-test, Chi-squared)
- Experience with scripting language (e.g., Python, Java, or R)
- Experience with SQL
- Experience in the data/BI space

Preferred Qualifications

- Master's degree, or Advanced technical degree
- Knowledge of data modeling and data pipeline design
- Experience with statistical analysis, co-relation analysis
