Job Description

The Project Manager/Data Analyst will be responsible for managing and executing data-driven projects that enhance business processes, drive efficiencies, and support strategic decision-making. This role combines project management with data analysis to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with measurable outcomes that align with business objectives.

  • Lead and manage multiple data-centric projects from initiation to closure, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, including schedules, milestones, and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of data insights into business processes.
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across all projects.
  • Prepare and present reports and dashboards to senior leadership, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring that potential issues are addressed proactively.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by leveraging data to optimize business operations.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders, translating business needs into technical requirements.

Job duties to include but are not limited to:

  • Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets to support project objectives.
  • Coordinate with IT and data management teams to ensure the availability of necessary data resources.
  • Track project progress, adjust plans as necessary, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
  • Conduct post-project evaluations to assess success and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop user documentation, training materials, and support for end-users.

Qualifications

Education:

 

  • Bachelor's degree preferred and may be substituted for experience.

Certifications: 

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification or equivalent
  • Certifications in data analysis tools or methodologies (e.g., SQL, Tableau, Python, R) are a plus.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as SQL, Python, R, Tableau, or Power BI
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies (Black belt, Agile, Waterfall)
  • Understanding of database management, ETL processes, and data warehousing.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities.

Experience:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in project management, with a focus on data analysis and business intelligence, is recommended.
  • Experience in managing projects that involve multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams in a corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading projects from initiation to completion, with measurable outcomes that align with business objectives.

Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in data analysis tools and software such as SQL, Python, R, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of database management, ETL processes, and data warehousing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).

  • Directly influences business decision-making by providing data-driven insights.
  • Plays a key role in shaping project strategies and ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Contributes to the development of best practices in data analysis and project management.

Scope and Complexity:

  • Manages projects of moderate to high complexity, often involving multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Handles complex data analysis tasks that require deep technical knowledge and critical thinking.
  • Responsible for integrating data-driven approaches into business processes across various departments.

Liaisons:

  • Regular interaction with senior leadership, including department heads and executives.
  • Close collaboration with IT, Data Management, and Business Intelligence teams.
  • Acts as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure project success.

The compensation for this position ranges from $63,000.00 - $147,000.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills, job-related knowledge, and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions. Smiths Detection provides comprehensive benefits including healthcare, 401K savings plan, company holidays, vacation, sick time, parental leave and an employee assistance program.
