The Data/BI (Business Intelligence) Analyst, a member of the Knowledge Management team, specializes in developing and composing reports and dashboards in, but not limited to, Excel, M-Query and PowerBI integrated into SharePoint.  Leveraging/utilizing various tools and technologies such as database queries/management, Python and data visualization using Microsoft PowerBI, the role will create and mine insights and present them via reports and interactive visualization dashboards to facilitate data supported decisions.  In addition, the role will support and/or provide training to stakeholders and cross functional team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, compose and maintain Excel and M-Query reports from various data sources
  • Develop, compose, maintain and publish PowerBI dashboards to visualize data from various data sources
  • Collaborate with Business stakeholders and cross functional teams to understand/gather business requirements and translate into actionable reports and/or dashboards
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to integrate Microsoft PowerBI dashboards, Excel and M-Query reports into SharePoint and other systems to facilitate seamless user experience and access by stakeholders
  • Train and support team members on how to modify and use the reports and PowerBI dashboards for data analysis/Business Intelligence and support data-driven decisions
  • Leverage Python and other tools/technologies, where appropriate, to extract, parse, clean, normalize, transform data from various sources and establish data set(s) used in reports and dashboards
  • Continuously monitor, refine and optimize the reports and dashboards for performance, accuracy, reliability and responsiveness
  • Stay current and share key industry trends and best practices of reports and data visualizations, PowerBI, SharePoint integration and database management with the Knowledge Management team
  • Collaborate with the cross functional team members to identify and refine ERD’s (Entity Relationship Diagrams) of various data sources

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems or related field.
  • Proficiency in data extraction from various sources; parsing, normalizing, cleaning, transforming and loading data to facilitate the composition of reports and dashboards.
  • Proficiency in Python programming and to facilitate data ETL (Extract, Transform, Load).
  • 5+ years experience developing Excel, M-Query and PowerBI reports and dashboards.
  • Proficiency in database SQL queries/management.
  • Demonstrated strengths in problem solving abilities, attention to details and active listening.
  • Self-starter, self-motivated and can work with a sense of urgency.
  • Proficient with data visualization tools and techniques.
  • Working knowledge with data warehousing concepts and techniques.
  • Working knowledge with SharePoint administration, customization and optimization.
  • Certification in PowerBI and/or related technologies is an asset.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Data Analyst and/or Business Intelligence Analyst.
