LOCATION: 

We're open to both fully remote and hybrid work arrangements, with a preference for candidates located in the SF Bay Area, particularly those who can work from our South San Francisco, CA office.

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Natera is seeking a Senior Bioinformatician with extensive expertise in next-generation sequencing (NGS), quantitative biology, and methods development for high-volume clinical diagnostic sequencing applications.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Collaborate as part of a dynamic, cross-disciplinary team of molecular and computational biologists to develop innovative NGS assays for clinical diagnostics.
  • Design and implement analysis tools and pipelines for diagnostic assays targeting tumor, germline, and cell-free DNA samples.
  • Partner closely with wet lab scientists to develop, optimize, and troubleshoot complex, high-throughput NGS workflows encompassing diverse sample types and analytical targets.
  • Work directly with clinical staff to validate and deploy diagnostic assays.
  • Contribute to all stages of the process, from sequencing and analysis through validation and production deployment.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Master’s degree in bioinformatics with 4+ years post-graduate experience, or PhD with 1-3 years of post-graduate experience (preferred)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Deep understanding of DNA sequence data and its analysis.
  • Strong background in statistics, including building statistical models, selecting appropriate test statistics, and performing power analyses.
  • Experience with public genomics data sources, such as HapMap, dbSNP, and 1000 Genomes.
  • Experience working with RNA-focused applications.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python programming and workflow languages like Nextflow and WDL.
  • Practical experience with high-performance computing environments (e.g., Kubernetes, SGE, LSF, SLURM).
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS or GCP.
The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.Remote USA$137,100—$171,450 USD
