Scania Group
Scania is a world-leading provider of transport solutions, including trucks and buses for heavy transport applications combined with an extensive product-related service offering.About Scania
For Scania, the most valuable asset is our people. Scania has a strong and supportive working culture where each individual is seen, respected, and trusted. Scania’s organizational environment enables you to develop and grow professionally and personally in the best possible way.
Scania has over 600.000 (and counting) vehicles and other connected products that continuously create new data. A key factor for Scania to succeed in the Digital Shift and one of Scania’s sustainability goals is to enable flexible and usable access to data in large volumes.
96% of Scania’s carbon emissions come from our products, enabling and leveraging the data that we collect to improve our products and help our customers utilize them in a more efficient way, is one important component for reaching our science-based targets.
We are looking for a curious data scientist to help us drive the development of new data initiatives in our projects within electrification, autonomy, and connectivity. Do you want to be a part of this journey?
What you will do
Today our R&D teams are utilizing more and more log- and sensor data in their daily work. Our team’s business problem is to integrate this data into Scania’s development workflow, in order to enable data-driven development. This integration is end-to-end, i.e., from deciding and testing new functionalities, to evaluating performance and investigating deviations in our rolling fleet.
Today this team consists of four data engineers, mainly focusing on the back-end operations. You will be complementing the team by focusing more on the front-end part of the operations while also supporting the Product Owner communicating and onboard users, meanwhile also understand their needs to ensure those are being reflected in our roadmap. Our team is a front-runner on enabling data-driven development at Scania and you can be a key player in forming that journey by:
- Facilitate engaging demo sessions to showcase and explain the latest features, ensuring users have a clear understanding of their benefits.
- Support internal customers (e.g., mechanical engineers, software developers, system owners) by helping them leverage their data through suitable tools, methods, and models tailored for their specific use case.
- Assisting the product owner in identifying use cases and refining the product by incorporating insights from customer feedback sessions.
- Provide support for cross-referenced data contextualization and automated analytics.
- Enable shorter feedback loops for product and embedded SW development.
Who you are?
Technical curiosity is important, and you enjoy sharing newfound knowledge with team members and other peers. You have a customer-first mindset, and you can adjust your communication to the knowledge level of your customer.
With a creative approach to problem-solving, you are able to find solutions to existing use cases and can identify new use cases without relying on a pre-defined problem.
You see the benefits of working with a data-driven approach and encourage other people to realize the possibilities of this way of working.
