We’re currently looking for a Data Scientist (Engineer) to join our team in Big Data Analytics at the Nissan Technical Center in Farmington Hills, MI.
The Data Analytics Team is responsible for utilizing vehicle transmitted data to support R&D regionally and globally in development through post launch studies and investigations. The candidate for this position will discuss the needs with engineering teams and use the tools of data science to turn data into actionable insights. For a typical project, the data scientist will be responsible for identifying the proper data sources, preprocessing and cleaning of data, applying the correct tools for statistical analysis or predictive analytics and final presentation of insights to engineering teams.
Job functions include but are not limited to:
- Preparing / Transforming data using Nissan’s Big Data Platform AWS EMR (Presto/Hive SQL/Python), Snowflake SQL/Python
- Summarizing / Describing data using classical statistical methods
- Data dimensionality reduction
- Predictive modeling
- Creating dashboards (Tableau / HTML) to allow non-experts to interact with data
- Present findings to key stake holders
- Promote the use of big data with other R&D departments and divisions of Nissan
- Identify quality improvements and support implementation of generated ideas
- Support R&D in signal identification and collection in support of their need
- Work collaboratively in a team setting to support Nissan objectives and mindsets
Qualifications:
- BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, Data Science or other engineering discipline
- 2 to 3 years of experience working with large data sets using Python (R/SAS/other language) and SQL
- Preferred candidates have experience working with big data tools (AWS EMR, SageMaker), performing data analysis with Python, working with streaming / IoT data, and have experience building machine learning models
- Excellent problem solving skills; demonstrated history for taking proactive approach; self-motivated, assertive, learner, fair, transparent and ability to communicate clearly at all levels
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with many other teams
- Ability to travel occasionally to develop and maintain strong relationship in Americas and globally.
