As a Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in harnessing the power of data to drive business decisions and innovation. Your mission will include building and optimizing data systems with a strong focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and ensuring compliance with data governance policies. Partnering with cross-functional teams, you will ensure that our data infrastructure supports business intelligence, analytics, and machine learning initiatives while maintaining the highest standards of security, privacy, and governance.
What you'll get to do
Data Infrastructure on GCP:
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using GCP tools such as:
• BigQuery
• Cloud Pub/Sub
• Dbt
• Fivetran
• Google Cloud Run
• Google Workflows
• Google Cloud Functions
• Implement data warehouse solutions on GCP, optimizing for performance, cost, and scalability.
• Leverage GCP AI and analytics tools to enable predictive and prescriptive insights.
Data Governance and Security:
• Develop and enforce data governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant regulations.
• Implement policies for data access, lineage, and cataloging using tools such as Google Cloud Data Catalog or similar solutions.
• Monitor and address data security concerns, ensuring encryption, role-based access control, and secure data sharing practices.
Data Pipeline Development and Management:
• Create automated ETL processes to ingest and process data from various sources, ensuring quality and consistency.
• Build workflows to clean, enrich, and transform data for analytics and reporting.
• Optimize data workflows for low latency and high reliability in both batch and streaming contexts.
Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with Business partners, Data Analysts, and data stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into technical solutions.
• Document data workflows, architectures, and best practices to support team scalability and system maintainability.
Monitoring and Maintenance:
• Implement robust monitoring for data infrastructure and pipelines, utilizing GCP tools like Stackdriver Monitoring and Logging.
• Proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks, ensuring systems operate efficiently.
We'd love to meet you if you have
Technical Skills:
• Deep expertise in GCP services, including BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Composer.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation and transformation.
• Experience with data governance tools such as Google Cloud Data Catalog, Informatica or Collibra.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform or Deployment Manager for managing cloud resources.
Professional Experience:
• 3+ years of experience in data engineering or cloud-based data systems development.
• Proven track record in implementing scalable data solutions on GCP.
• Strong understanding of data governance principles, frameworks, and best practices.
• Experience in integrating cloud systems with on-premises or third-party applications.
Soft Skills:
• Analytical and problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
• Ability to balance multiple projects and deliver results under tight deadlines.
Education and Certifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related fields.
• Google Cloud certifications such as Professional Data Engineer or Professional Cloud Architect are highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with machine learning workflows and their integration with GCP services.
• Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI or Looker integrated with GCP.
• Knowledge of privacy regulations and implementing compliant data solutions.
