Backend Engineer - Transaction Risk Management (All Genders)

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

• You’ll work on multiple modules of a bigger system and build performant, scalable solutions that deliver customer value, and are according to the set Service Level Objectives (SLOs) for the product

• You’ll ensure that the technical and computational complexity as well as compliance (GDPR, security) requirements are considered in the solutions developed by your team

• You’ll be trusted to work autonomously, without supervision, and to deploy and operate high-quality features in production

THE ROLE & THE TEAM

• As a backend engineer in our Transaction Risk Management team you will have the opportunity to join a dynamic and diverse group of engineers and applied scientists. As an analytics team, we are responsible for several predictive services running in Java, Python, AWS, and Kubernetes to safeguard other teams in the checkout domain at Zalando. As part of our team, you will have the chance to work on cutting edge projects, raise the technical bar, improve our operational excellence, and shape our ways of working.

• What you build and put in production is impacting not only every single Zalando customer on the spot, but also the performance of Zalando and its partners.

WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

• You have 1-3 years of experience as a backend engineer for cloud-based technologies (preferably on AWS)

• Strongly prefer Apache Flink Expertise.

• Knowledge of object oriented programming paradigm and languages, such as Java and Python

• Passion for developing clean, well maintainable, and testable code

• Motivation for continued personal development in discovering new technologies and software services

PREFERRED TO HAVE

• Work experience with a high level of test automation (unit, component, integration)

• Knowledge in automated deployment and monitoring through CI/CD pipeline (Docker, Kubernetes, or similar)

• Passion for big data, statistics, and machine learning approaches

• Previous experience in designing, developing, and operating microservices on a highly distributed system
