About This Role 

Come join the team to work as an integral part of the Lycoming engineering team to support existing engineering frameworks and project initiatives to meet the evolving demand in digitization, electronification and modernization of the propulsion sub-systems in the general aviation space. The selected individual will be directly supporting development of software solutions for various products in their respective design lifecycle thereby enabling customer success.  

  

The selected candidate will interface with Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Test Engineering on a regular basis; meanwhile interface with Customers and Suppliers on a as-needed basis.  Participation in onsite visits to customer or supplier locations as engineering representative may be required on an as-needed basis. 

  

Tasks include but are not limited to: 

  • Support design and delivery of noval analytic solutions (model, algorithms, tools) leveraging algorithms. 
  • Software application capabilities and adequate engineering & analytics backgrounds 
  • Assist in providing recommendations and lead solutions to mitigate risks and abate pressures. 
  • Engage key technical members & subject matter experts (SMEs) cross-functionally for knowledge capture transformed into the solutions and deploy those solutions to the field for usage. 
  • Facilitate communicating complex data insights to supervisor(s) in a clear and concise manner. 
  • Participate as an engineering contributor in both program technical reviews and gate reviews. 

Qualifications

 

Education: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Software engineering (AI/ML) or Bachelor’s degree in Computational Statistical Physics 

Position Requirements: 

  • Fundamental experience with scripting and data analysis packages like Python, R is a plus. 
  • Fundamental experience designing analytics utilizing Machine Learning algorithms or heuristics.  
  • Test plan creation, documentation, reporting skills are required 
  • Adequate presentation skills required - MS Office Suite conversant (Powerpoint, Excel, Word, etc.). 
  • Organizational skills and ability to handle multiple programs and/or multiple activities within a program is strongly desired. 
  • Other programming languages and associated project experiences are a plus. 
  • Knowledge of Aerospace standards (DO-178, DO-160, etc.) is a plus. 
  • Interpersonal Savvy and ability work with cross-functional team is a desirable attribute. 
  • Understanding of Six Sigma methodologies is a plus. 
  • Understanding of Internal Combustion Engines is a plus.
