Quantitative Analyst

 

We are seeking a motivated individual to join the Group Costing Methods as a Quantitative Analyst. This unique role combines elements of quantitative analysis, data analytics and actuarial science, to provide comprehensive support to our underwriting functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong quantitative and analytical background and experience with data analysis methods, with a passion for applying these skills to real-world business challenges. Prior exposure to actuarial science is a plus.

About the Role

The Group Costing Methods team is responsible for developing, maintaining and running the company’s costing model. The model is key in supporting Underwriters in their day-to-day decision making across all of Swiss Re, servicing both the Reinsurance and the Commercial Insurance divisions.

  • Develop and implement actuarial models to assess risk and pricing strategies
  • Develop and maintain compelling data visualizations dashboards servicing the underwriting community
  • Analyse large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights to inform underwriting decisions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and improve underwriting models and processes
  • Provide quantitative analysis and support for underwriting projects and initiatives
  • Generate detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders
  • Maintain and update databases, ensuring data integrity and accuracy

About you

You are a great teammate with a “can do” attitude and strong interpersonal skills who naturally brings individuals together as needed, across countries and functions.

  •  Bachelor's or Master's degree in quantitative field such as Mathematics, Data Science, Economics, Actuarial Science, Engineering  or a related field
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Experience in programming languages (e.g., Java, R, Python) is a plus
  • Experience in database languages (e.g. SQL) is a plus
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient level of English
