At Optus, we have an ambitious goal to be Australia’s most loved everyday brand.

The role of Associate Director Data Product Management operates within Optus’ fast-paced, agile Data Transformation & Strategy Tribe, driving data innovation and enabling next-generation data management capabilities across the full data lifecycle. The Tribe’s key responsibilities include crafting and implementing a cohesive data transformation strategy, developing enterprise-wide data governance and data risk management solutions, and delivering data products that meet business needs while mitigating enterprise data risks.

The Associate Director will own the development and execution of Optus' enterprise-wide Data Loss Prevention (DLP) strategy, collaborating closely with the Director of Data Transformation and the Senior Director Data Strategy & Transformation. The role focuses on driving innovative, scalable DLP solutions that align with business needs while improving data risk management across the organization.

Your day in the life of an AD Data Product Management at Optus

  • Develop innovative and scalable data governance and data management patterns, focusing on embedding strong data controls and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) measures to safeguard critical information.
  • Translate the requirements of large-scale transformation initiatives into smaller, actionable items that align with data protection and governance objectives, ensuring compliance with DLP policy and standards.
  • Continuously discover opportunities to refine Optus' processes, improving data risk management practices with a strong emphasis on Data Loss Prevention and proactive risk mitigation.
  • Lead the refinement, implementation, and monitoring of data management controls, ensuring that DLP protocols are coordinated in all stages of data handling and storage.
  • Own arguments and cases for new data management initiatives, ensuring that high-impact projects with a focus on DLP are prioritised for maximum efficiency and compliance.

Your skills to pay the bills

  • Data, Engineering, Science, or IT degree with extensive experience in data, IT, digital, or customer experience, preferably in telecommunications or IT industries with exposure to DLP.
  • Proven experience in working in Agile environments, delivering products and ensuring data governance and management requirements are met.
  • Proven track record in data management, data analytics, or digital data-related fields with the ability to apply policies, regulations, and business requirements.
  • Strong customer focus with a passion for customer experience, along with effective communication, both written and oral.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple business partners and prioritise scope, overcome obstacles, and mitigate risks for project success.
  • Highly organised with attention to detail, able to meet strict deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proactive, with a continuous improvement mentality, and a positive approach to leading in a dynamic, constantly evolving environment.
