Your role
In this dual role as Data Engineer and Scrum Master within the Operational Awareness - Warehouse team, you will leverage your technical expertise in data engineering while facilitating agile practices within the team. Your work will provide customers with actionable insights into the performance of material handling systems, while also fostering a collaborative, efficient, and transparent team environment. This role requires a proactive, self-reliant professional with great communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the Scrum Master for your team, fulfilling Agile responsibilities such as facilitating ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives).
- Support team development by promoting Agile best practices, guiding team growth, and fostering a collaborative and transparent work environment.
- Proactively remove impediments to ensure smooth progress and empower the team to achieve sprint goals.
- Design, develop, and deploy end-to-end data pipelines and solutions that deliver insights to maximize customer value.
- Enable the availability and accessibility of data across teams to support our digital platform.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders across Vanderlande to ensure alignment and drive data solution adoption.
- Standardize software, maintain high-quality engineering practices, and promote best practices in data management and analytics.
- Collect, analyze, and act on feedback to continuously improve the standardized product offerings.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in data engineering, including building, deploying, and maintaining complex data pipelines.
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent Agile certification, and/or at least 2 years of hands-on experience fulfilling Scrum Master responsibilities within a team.
- Skills and Tools:
- Strong experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Splunk, PowerBI, Tableau).
- Experience with streaming/batch storage (Kafka, Oracle) and API development is a plus.
- Proficiency in Python, with hands-on experience in data modeling.
- Knowledge of different types of databases, event processing tools (Databricks, Splunk, ELK stack), and schema formats (JSON/XML/Avro).
- Experience deploying services in containers (e.g., Docker) and working with cloud services (preferably Azure).
- Familiarity with DevOps principles and agile project management tools (e.g., JIRA).
- Excellent problem-solving skills, capable of breaking down large tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to coach, guide, and motivate a multidisciplinary engineering team.
- Skilled in fostering an open, respectful team culture with a focus on agile values.
- Strong communicator in English, able to bridge technical and non-technical discussions effectively.

This position offers a competitive salary range of € 4607 to € 6200 gross per month (excluding 8% holiday allowance). Through exceeding performance expectations, you even have the possibility to grow outside this scale.
